Here are the scriptures and references to the what His posted. This is the NAS.

Psalms 133:1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!

Ephesians 4:29
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

What I would do is to pray and ask the Lord for direction on helping my children to get together. The Lord will give direction for each situation. Many families have this kind of trouble, but some more than others. Ask the Lord exactly how you need to approach it and go from there.

just a heads up ladies- all the walmart branded DRY pet foods as well as pedigree and a few others listed on this page have been recalled due to a suspected salmonella contamination.

ETA:
quote:

Production Lot Code - (found on back of bag just after "Best Before" date).
The products listed in the chart below are made at our Everson facility on behalf of a variety of retailers. All production lot codes, with the exception of PEDIGREE®, are listed in a similar format as noted below:
Consumers should look for "17" as the first two digits of the second line. Sample:
Best By Feb 18 09
17 1445 1

For PEDIGREE® the Everson code date format is as follows:
Consumers should look for "PAE" on the bottom line - the sixth, seventh and eighth digits. Sample:
PEDIGREE ® Small Crunchy Bites
Best Before 02/2009
808G1PAE01 12:00

We no longer have our bags here.

Book on siblings
I have not read it, but have wanted to.

Also, if it's 'no-fault' stuff that is getting to you, remember this phrase: You are disturbing my peace.

The kids' squabbling should not be disturbing YOUR peace..

I have been praying, in my daily devotional time, for unity and cooperation in our home. When we begin school in the morning, we start with prayer, then work on scripture memorization, then on poetry. It starts the day out nicely. We only spend about ten minutes at it, but the children all look forward to the first things we do in the morning.

No problem! I like the input!
We started Bible first thing, too. We are reading the Bible and working on memorization as well. I needed to change our "schedule" so we started out with the right focus.

Thanks!!

I think there is some verses in Proverbs about unwholesome talk, or foolish talk...or something along that line. We have that book about Siblings getting along, too.... I was just thinking I should get that back out! Today... and several days in a row... have been like that (sibling rivalry)! And, to top it off, I feel like 13yr dd and I have been butting heads, too! Right now there is peace in our home, but there are moments when nothing feels peaceful and everything is loud, chaotic, and short tempered. I would really like to see these episodes gone. I am very blessed that I have two boys that absolutely are best friends and everyone notices and comments about that.... that is such a blessing!!

We are starting our mornings with Psalms and Proverbs and prayer which has really been a blessing for all of us!

I'm tired today and tomorrow morning Noah gets his teeth fixed. I'm not looking foward to 5am when he usually wakes up and I won't even be able to give him a sip of water!

I really, really, really, want to vent about my back-sliding brother. But, I can't. He really needs to suffer consequences and he isn't (yet)... remember to pray for him.

We just watched the Engineering an Empire segment on Persia. Very cool how it intertwines with the Bible.

Nate zipped through his math today. We have also done handwriting and history, plus he did music instead of typing when offered the choice. I need to get to his grammar, though, and his other math. It's a Jukido night so we shall see.

cynthia,

Tell me again that what was right for our daughter (to remove a boy from her life that was encouraging her to be rebellious and irresponsible) was right for everyone involved. I could use hearing that again.

LOL! I guess I should've read your new siggy!

Did that answer you?

You are still responsible for your daughter. I suggest that you pray to get to the root of what is causing her to pine after this unhealthy relationship and then pray to demolish the stronghold. There is some kind of spiritual bondage here that needs to be broken. She does not want to be a fool, like the dog that returns to his vomit.
Proverbs 26:11 Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.

You are a good mother, who is intimately aquainted with your daughter. You want what is best for her and take your responsibility seriously. I would ask her if something happened between them that should not have. If they became physically or sexually inappropriate, that would explain her unhealthy attachment. Hopefully that is not it, but you really do need to pray and hopefully with her to get to the bottom of this, so she can take it through the steps of repentence.
Scriptural steps: Admit and confess, give to the Lord, renounce/reject, ask for the Lord to fill that empty place.

Ah, I was unclear. She is actually doing well at college- going to Young Life and making friends there. She has totally avoided partying (yay! so proud!) even though her roomie is party central. She comes home every weekend and goes to church with us. I talk to her almost everyday. She is moving on with God. Took awhile, though, and I should have posted a prayer update on the subject last week. Sorry!

It was feeling gulty about Michael that was getting to me. His bank statement still comes to the house, and I have been forwarding it. I e-mailed him a nice motherly reminder that since he hasnt' taken care of it, if it comes again I will have to wite return to sender: new adress is ########

He e-mailed me back a terse, rude comment. It hurt. But then I started making excuses (I know, so co-dependent!) and feeling sorry for him. I knew it was not from God, so I was encouraging myself that what I did was the right thing for Michael as well.

Yes, you absolutely did the right thing. His behavior and attitude isn't because of you. You did what you did because of his behavior and attitude! And now that you clarified, I can also see that your daughter is flourishing due to what you did. They would both be in worse straights had you not acted decisively. Thank God. That young man desperately needs appropriate boundaries. By giving him some, you at least did not make him worse and may have helped him in ways you don't even know. His rejection of you and your values is not due to you. It is due to a sinful heart in him that needs repentance.

Oh my! I OWN this book! I bought it when I worked at the Creation Museum, and started reading it, but it is really from the kids perspective, so I wanted to read it to/with them. We never got started and I completely forgot about it! Thank you, thank you!!

ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just how long can a child sit and do nothing over one silly grammar worksheet?!?!?!?!?

Ever have one of THOSE days?! I canned the rest of my tomatoes, which was great. Except it takes time. I had to rush to get dinner fixed. I had beef slow cooking in the crockpot. I needed to add cream of mushroom soup and noodles. Okay, that's done. Cook up some frozen veges. Peas and carrots sounds good. The bag had partly thawed and refrozen during the power outage. Quick thump on the way to the stove and it should be good to go. Except the bag ripped open, sending peas and carrots across the kitchen. Sigh... I go to the closet to get the broom. The handle was broken! How does a broom handle get broken?! Okay, use it as a wisk broom. Then I discover the dust pan is broken. I about wanted to cry!

You're Welcome, you're welcome!

His, I am very sorry that all of your sweeping tools are broken. That is a terrible thing. Especially if you have to ask for a broom in your stocking this Christmas!

Hi everyone! We're having a busy-but-lazy week around here .. focussing more on household action items than school this week (kids were restless and wanting change ... I was wanting to start the fall clean-out, so we agreed to do the house this week and then back to our regular schedule next)

We had a family portrait done earlier this month ... Here it is
