I think I'm in agreement with Santa. Not that I mind going on to the annual contest, but I didn't win. Since Dinana won this month and is ineligible for the annual contest, I believe it would be best for this month to remain vacant on that contest. I'd rather win a monthly contest first. Is that OK?

James, as I said earlier, nothing against you but I would not want that if it had been me. Diana was the clear winner for the month. Just leave that month blank since she is not eligible. It would be like all the people that voted for her just wasted their vote.

But they knew she won the Ultimate SuperFan last year (but I agree with you--she is a true SuperFan!  ) and in essence, they did waste their vote. Do all of you think I should change this rule? Would that make it more fair? A year--or actually two years--is a long time to go on a forum. 
James, you can withdraw from competing in any poll at any time; that's also in the rules. 
Here is the rules verbatim. Notice that I enlarged the section that has the rules about the Ultimate SuperFan winner:
OFFICIAL SUPERFAN RULES
ELIGIBILITY:
--PARTICIPANTS: All participants (ones nominated and voters) must be registered users of the Salem Community Network forum, regardless of portal used to come to these forums, and have a demonstrated love for Southern Gospel Music, either as a fan or a performer.
---NON-WINNERS: Any person who did not win the poll for the month is eligible to be re-nominated in the next month. [I.e. someone who did not win in January is eligible for re-nomination for February’s SuperFan poll.]
---THE MONTHLY WINNER: The monthly winner is ineligible for nomination in all future monthly SuperFan polls for the current year, but he/she may nominate/second others and vote.
---THE ULTIMATE SUPERFAN WINNER: Last year’s Ultimate SuperFan Winner (USFW) may be nominated and be on a monthly poll in the current year, but is not eligible for Ultimate SuperFan for that year. He/she is eligible for Ultimate SuperFan in the next year. [I.e. a 2007 winner is not eligible until 2009 for Ultimate SuperFan.] If last year’s USFW wins a monthly poll in the current year by virtue of majority of votes, then the person with the second most votes will be the one listed in the Ultimate SuperFan Poll at the end of the year.
NOMINATIONS:
---WHEN TO NOMINATE: All nominations for the upcoming month will be taken on the last seven days of the current month in a “Nominations Thread.”
---WHO TO NOMINATE: You may nominate yourself or another person, but past monthly winners are not eligible for re-nomination. [See PARTICIPANTS] All participants are allowed either one nomination or one second of someone else’s nomination, but not both. Since there is an overlap in nominations and the end of the month’s poll, you may re-nominate someone already on the poll and is currently not winning. However, if they should happen to win by the end of the month your re-nomination is invalid.
---DECLINING NOMINATIONS/OPTING OUT: Any person who is nominated may decline the nomination, or opt-out if currently on a poll, at any time, even if they are currently in the running for ULTIMATE SUPERFAN.
---IF YOUR NOMINEE DECLINES: (1) If a person you nominate declines the nomination within the nomination thread, you may nominate a new person or second someone else’s nomination. [REMEMBER: each nomination/second is to that person's benefit!] (2) If the person is already on either the monthly or USF poll and chooses to decline further participation, then you cannot nominate someone to fill that slot, but you may re-nominate them for the following month.
VOTING:
---AM I ALLOWED TO VOTE FOR MYSELF?? You may vote for any one person on the poll, including yourself, if you are on it.
---TWO VOTES ALLOWED: As a voter, you may vote up to twice, once for each allowed username (Forums rules allow two accounts). You must log in under that username to vote.
---TIES: There may be two winners in one month (both with equal number of votes, monthly poll only). More than two will require a special tie-breaking poll. ULTIMATE SUPERFAN will only have one winner; a tie will require a special tie-breaking poll.
GENERAL INFO ABOUT SUPERFAN:
---Monthly polls consist of up to 10 (ten) PARTICIPANTS who have been nominated for their demonstrated love of Southern Gospel Music. New nominees are chosen by their peers every month.
---The monthly poll ends on the last day of the month at 11:59 pm.
---THE ULTIMATE SUPERFAN POLL will consist of all the monthly winners from January-December (including ties), and will be held in early January of the New Year to determine the year’s ULTIMATE SUPERFAN.

I'm not withdrawing from competing. I am just saying that I'd rather earn my spot as opposed to having it handed to me for being #2. Just ain't right IMO.

It's not October. It was a request to change the rules which has happened every week, but was turned down rather quickly. I'm sorry, but I can understand Santa's point.

Congratulations, Dinana!!!
Tina, FYI, had I voted for Dinana, I wouldn't see it as a wasted vote even if she isn't eligible for the Ultimate SuperFan. I hope it encourages her just to know we still love and appreciate her. Not that everyone else on here isn't loved and appreciated but you know what I mean. I felt blessed just to get some votes, let alone win a month!
James, I can understand you wanting to hold out and see if you can win a month, and I hope you do allow us to keep nominating you. Now had I won by default, I'd have probably taken it  but I think it's fine you don't.
Santa, I will try to remember that you don't wish to be nominated but, so that you know, I'm a fan of yours anyway.

IMHO, it is not right for a person to go on to the annual poll without winning the monthly poll. The rest of what you said is exactly right. It was known ahead of time that she had won last year, so was ineligible for this year, even if she won the monthly poll.
Now this is just my opinion, but I want to win, not just slide in because someone else won that isn't eligible. I believe this month should not be represented on the Ultimate poll and I'd like a chance to win on my own. If I can't win a monthly poll, I don't deserve to be on the Ultimate poll. I'm actually glad it was me that was in second place so it didn't sound like a sour grapes situation.

As a matter of fact he has. Bobby nominated him for October. This brings up an interesting situation. If he wins in October or one of the other two months this year will his name appear twice on the Yearly poll or only once thus making this a moot point. Considering the possibility maybe Tina should revisit the rules. However I do want to note that it does not matter to me one way or the other.
