I'm available for dinner also. You can give my okra to Sharon-Marie.

Now it's you that needs glasses or a dictionary. No arguments there. Just a suggestion of an alternative course of action.

And besides, Sharon-Marie expressed an interest first. That aside, being the southern gentleman I am it is always ladies first.

I am eating the last of some chicken that I had delivered a few days ago from a local BBQ restaurant (chicken, sans the BBQ sauce).

I'm also simmering some turnips and their greens on the stove.

That's true. But being the good lawman that you are, you know it's a good idea to have an alternative course of action.

There is no alternative course of action to being a gentleman.

I bring the roasted okra if you share your turnips!!! Mmm-MMMMM!!!!

To roast the okra, just toss it with some olive oil and a little sea salt and black pepper, maybe some garlic powder, put it on a baking sheet and roast for 20 minutes or so. It's good as part of a roasted veggie combo, too. With red pepper, onion, yellow squash, zucchini, fresh green beans, tomato wedges, cubed red potatoes---anything, really. Good stuff!!! And you can experiment with fresh herbs on it as well. Basil is my favorite.

Oh yum!

I'm guessing it works better with fresh okra?

Now I need to buy all of those veggies the next time I go to the store so I can roast 'em.

And yes ma'am . . . get thee over here and I'll share my turnips with ya.

Fresh is best, but I have used frozen when fresh is not available.

I am not an okra person, (this comes from my father, who really did not like it) I would substiture snow peas for okra.

Do you thaw them before roasting? If not, I'm guessing the cooking time would need to be extended?

Snow peas really are good in it. For the frozen okra, I didn't thaw first but didn't have to extend the cooking time by much, since they're not that big. Use the whole okra, though so it doesn't get slimy.

What is the difference between a coot and a codger?

We don't rent codgers, at least not at this time.

I'm running a respectable business, you know, and if you ruin my good Rent-A-Coot name, I'll have to sue you for copyright infringement.

I thought we were partners. You would be suing yourself.

We can call our staff cooters...

...and the clients would be cooties.

Brenda the difference between a codger and a coot -

I am an old codger.

Kerr is an old coot.

I think that we established earlier that coots can walk on water.

Fire away Kath.

I had trouble getting on line yesterday the couple of times I could tear myself away from College Football...

...and today I have been cootering with Mrs. Kerrlaw.

:)

I just wondered, what goes on at an arraignment? How is it different than when one is first arrested and is out on bond? Is that different than when they say they want to charge someone with something?

I have not been arrested, just so you know.
