quote:
Cody did'ent want me to drive him for the first day Zak makes me drop him off a ways from where he is going as he is embarrassed to be seen in my car. quote:
Last year and this year he wanted to take the bus. My baby is growing up! Barb, my son hates the bus. Do you find it hard to see your youngest child the "baby" growing up. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I just look at him and see his teenage body and remember holding him as a baby and how precious he was and now soon he will be an adult and he is the last child in my home. quote:
We got to enjoy our first high school football game this last Friday. Cody played really good. I don't know what his position is..something like a running back..or tail back?? That's a good position, Barb. My son is the center. quote:
Last night when we got back we had a call on our answering machine from our good friends wanting to get to gether to play cards, so we called them & asked them to come on out. Leah, sometimes I feel jealous of you and your active social life but also I am learning from you how to be more social myself and how to interact with people. I think in time I will have what you have because I believe the church I go to the people will become social friends as well as brothers and sisters in Christ. quote:
She once missed a trip to McDonald's (a big deal for her at the time) because she didn't want to wear a certain coat. I'm not sure why I picked that battle now that I think about it. LOL. I feel the same way about some of the 'battles' with my older children. As I grew in being a parent I learn better which 'battle' to pick and which to let go. But knowing this was a growing experience for me. quote:
BTW..how did you quit the habit, and what physical changes? (You can PM me if you don't want to talk about it here) No I don't mind talking about it here. I had been praying for God to help me quit the bad habit of smoking and was very honest with him that I didn't really want to quit that I liked smoking and liked the taste and others things but that I did want to do His will and knew He wanted me to quit. Well, anyway I got a very bad infection from abscess teeth and a congestive cough. My mouth hurt something terrible and it was very hard to smoke so I figured God had given me an answer to my prayers and was HELPING me to quit and I did. Once I made that decision it was amazing the urge to smoke stopped too. And the addiction that I thought I would never get over was gone. The physical changes? When I stopped smoking I had an overwhelming fatigue and all I did for a few weeks was sleep ever chance I got which is how my house became a wreck because no one picked up the slack while I was sleeping. And after two weeks of not smoking my body began to feel things more whereas before it was ok now I was feeling urges I hadn't before so that had to be given to God and to my husband. I am over both of these changes and on an even keel now. I have returned to getting up early and not needing to sleep as much and all the rush of overwhelming physical feelings is normalized. I do want to munch some so I've boughten some Trail Mix and munch on the nuts and dried fruit when I get a munch urge. quote:
I want to figure out my checkbook, and pay some bills. Did you get this chore done? quote:
Sometime today I need to try changing my living room around one more time before we move the chaise lounge out of here. Leah, did you rearrange your living room? quote:
There's not always a lot to go to in our small town. How small is small, Dee? quote:
It was bad enough loseing my mom...I don't even wanna think about loseing him! I know Barb. You have amazed me how well you've handled loosing your mom. And I completely understand not wanting to lose your dad as well. I don't want to lose either of my parents. I like having them around to talk to and share with. quote:
we're getting that slow, soaking rain also Leah, I don't know about you but I'm tired of the rain. I've had to be out in it running errands for work and it's the pits getting wet and then working. I'm ready for sunshine and dry weather. Though I do like it that it got cooler. quote:
Ginny, I'll remember your dad in prayer. That is so long for a couple to be together. YOur mom must be feeling quite anxious for him. I'll be praying for her also. Thanks Leah and thanks Barb and Dee and Maggie. He really does need prayers the bug he has if it goes into his bloodstream the doctor said he would immediately die. A very bad bug indeed. And I do feel concern for mom. She has had him for so long she is going to feel completely lost when he is gone. Mom plans on selling her home and coming up to live near me and my kids after dad is gone. I believe my church and the older people there will be good for her. quote:
We're hoping this group will grow quickly. Right now there are 6 active members, but 3 of them have not made it since we moved to the new location. Do you think it will help you? My thoughts are if it does then it will others and the word will spread and the group will grow. quote:
I barely pulled in the driveway when Garrett's bus pulled in behind me . . . they were about 20 minutes early. Bet that was scary. Garrett is far too young to be left alone. quote:
apple kuchen bakeing in the oven How did the apple kuchen turn out? Would you like to share the recipe? quote:
Me and Pam were just talking on the phone. She was complaining about being alone so much during the evening hours. When my husband was traveling so much with Zak for baseball games this summer I was home alone a lot. I liked it some because I like quiet times but other times I missed having people around. It can get too quiet. And it is always nice to chat with someone. The empty nest is not something I want to think about. quote:
But then, I've been working on finding me ever since I joined CW over 7 years ago and I think being part of CW has really helped. Maggie, you've helped so many people on CW including me. I really appreciated the time you took with me last night to talk about my day. Finding you part of that is helping others. The reaching out defines who you are. And you a thoughtful caring friend who is there when people need you. quote:
I felt bad; my son hurt his knee in PE today, and had to walk home. Dee, there wasn't anything you could do not knowing he had hurt himself. How old is this son? You've probably told me but I've forgotten. quote:
Took my girls to an appt about 30 miles away for an appt for my middle girls possible jaw surgery. How serious is this jaw surgery?

Good Friday morning, everyone! Ginny, you did a great job of answering everyone's posts!! You are such an organized, detailed person! Ginny, I think you're right about the church people, and I know you're right about you becoming more social -- your participation in here speaks strongly of that. You just keep on doing what you're doing, and you will soon have an active social life. Yes, I did change the living room around -- well, just two pieces, but those are the two pieces that were giving us problems. I just switched places with the recliner & the chaise, putting the recliner back closer to my desk chair and the chaise up by the door. I think it's going to work. Still need to work some bugs out, but Bill is further from the TV, which he'd requested, and the chaise, tho it's setting in the same general location as the recliner was, really sits further away from the TV simply due to the way it's made. Besides, I seldom sit on the recliner to watch TV . . mostly use it to read. And yes, Garrett is much too young to be left alone, and I wasn't for one minute afraid of that happening, just that I might have to chase the bus down. Actually, I didn't have time to think hardly anything cuz I hurried to the bus and she assured me she would have waited until I got home. Now I know that once a month the bus will be early, so I'll put that on my schedule. The OA group . . yes, I think it will help, especially when and/if I get in the mindset I need to be with it. I'm not there yet, but it's been a hectic 2 weeks. Hopefully, I will be there by this weeks meeting. I've been to the gym this morning, then went to McD's drive-thru to get my coffee -- trying to cut back, but did get two cups for today . . . it's a cool, rainy day, and I just wanted some extra. If I had to be out in the rain, I would be tired of it. I have to get out in it to get Garrett on the bus, but I don't get as wet then as I do when it's 90+ degrees and I have sweat rolling down my back. So given the choice, I'll take the rain over the steamy hot weather which, thankfully, we've had very little of this summer. Now I need to get to my sewing room and finish cleaning it, then get to sewing.

Good Friday Morning Everyone Maggie, if there ever was a women who knew who she was..I would say that was you. I admire you for your writting talents, and you adventure on traveling, and meeting new people. Ginny, to answer some of your questions: Yes, I find it hard to see Cody as a young man..I want my baby back. I think the youngest one is the hardest to watch growing up. What is the difference between playing center or running back anyways? Because they are further back in the field? Thanks for shareing your quitting habit with me. It may help me kick the habit someday soon. You would think watching ones mom die from smokeing that person would just throw them away! Looseing mom was pretty difficult on all five of us girls. Somedays I want to pick up the phone and call her..then I remember. There is'ent a day that goes by that I don't think of her tho. Yes..I got the bills paid and the checkbook balanced. The apple kuchen did'ent turn out so good. The recipe did'ent tell you how many apples to slice up, so I used three. It was too doughy, and dry. Gonna try it again with more apples next time, and see if it turns out better. If it does I will share the recipe. Sent up another prayer for your dad this morning. Leah, how you feeling today? Are you still so tired, or is that better?

Thanks for asking, Barb. Thankfully, the fatigue has abated. I haven't been exactly energtic this week, but at least am not so utterly drained either.

Leah, Me too, glad to hear that. Maggie, I agree with Barb. Barb, Center is the one who hikes the ball to the quarter back, you know the center is the guy who has the ball before a play is made who bends down with the ball and then it goes between his legs to the quarter back. The quarter back hands off or throws the ball to the running back. The running back then tries to carry the ball to a first down, or second down or 3rd down or 4th down, etc. If a down is not made before 4 plays are done this way then the ball goes to the opposing team so your son's position is important because he has to get that ball through and make the down or go all the way through and make a touchdown or decide to hand off the ball to someone else who can. Understand? All the prayers that can be made for dad I appreciate. I am debating about visiting my dad. I don't want for him to die and me not having seen him again. Don't know what to do. We are suppose to go out of town next weekend for Zak's birthday. Ginny

Maggie, I agree with Barb. Thank you, Barb and Ginny. It has been a long battle. There was a time when I defined almost everything about myself based on my dh. Ginny, I do hope you find a way to see your dad before he dies. Hopefully he'll come through this infection and you'll have lots more times with him. {{{{{{{{Ginny}}}}}}}

Hi all! Ginny, our town is around 6,000 people. Compared to the town (about half this size) I grew up in it doesn't seem that small. N is almost 11. He's also resourceful; he found a walking stick to help himself get home. He said the first one he found was too big, it was a limb. I kept him home today so he could stay off his knee and ice it. He has a dr. appt for Monday if he needs it. Hubby has the weekend off. No big plans though. Dee

Motherly advice, Dee, make sure the knee is kept clean (of course you are doing that) and keep applying antibiotic cream. I got infections on my knees after a fall. They were having an emergency drill off the back of our school bus and getting out was hard. I fell on both knees and got an infection on both. I was always careful with my kid's scrapes because of that experience. 6,000 that doesn't seem too small.

Anyone just have a blast today with "Hanna"? Lots of rain and tornado warnings. Hope everyone is okay. I hate tornado warnings. My 9 year old freaks out. Praise God for His protection! Most happened in the dark. Don't know if there's any damage till tomorrow morning.

Missouri has been having a lot of rain. Not bad just water coming down all day long, all night long. Weather reports says next week will be more of the same. My grandson's football team won their game. Barb, Gs is running back. He ran 240 yards and made 3 touchdowns. Watching a game with your loved one on the team is lots more fun than not having someone you know on the team. My Ds3 varsity team won their game too. Z is center. On the varsity team Z is second string. Because I came to the game late I had to park very far from the stands so since we were winning and there were only 3 minutes left in the game I started back to my car. When hubby got home I found out our son was put in right after I left. :( On Monday the junior varsity plays. DS3 will be playing a lot more in that game. Monday junior varsity game, Friday varsity game, and on Saturday GS game. Sundays I teach kid's church. And on this Thursday I need to contribute to the pre-game football dinner. Today we are having a potluck after church. I haven't prepared anything so am not sure I will go. I was so tired yesterday. I got up early to go to garage sales so at 7:00 am was doing that. By 9:30 I was exhausted and came home to take a nap. Then got up and went to the football game and was exhausted afterwards. Took DD home and visited with her for a bit. She liked the two cookbooks I bought at a garage sale (Taste of Home) so we looked over them then I took a nap at her house. Went home was going to clean but was still exhausted so I went back to bed instead. I don't know what is wrong with me. DD thinks it is because of what I drink. I drink a lot of diet soda. Hubby thinks it is because of my weight. I have gained weight since I quit smoking. All I know is I am tired. Ginny

I hope everyone is OK Momma-mo. We have a nice size town I think Ginny. Ready for another week. I think one of my kids forgot to make a lunch for tomorrow. No, she has leftover pizza to take. Good. It's supposed to be cooler and rainy here tomorrow. Dee
