I've had doubts many times. I've never doubted Jesus' ability to save, but I do sometimes worry that I only THINK I've given my life to Him but really haven't. When I think back to when I first came to Christ (way back in 1982) and asked Jesus to forgive my sins, I wonder if I did it out of true sorrow for my sins, or simply out of a strong desire to get to Heaven. Wanting to go to Heaven has always been my major reason. I was raised Catholic and always went to church and never for a moment have I ever doubted that God exists and that Jesus is His son. But there are times I feel like my life hasn't been transformed because I still struggle with bad attitudes (especially the past few years, toward a co-worker), and I don't have a strong desire to share my faith with non-believers (It's like I feel like it's too much of an effort and I'm too lazy to bring up the subject), and I still tend to think in terms of "What do I want to do today," rather than "What does God want to do today?" Enjoying life (not in a sinful way, mind you, I'm talking about simple pleasures like taking a little day trip with my hubby, things like that) is my top priority. I've accepted Christ, accepted His free gift of salvation--does that mean I'm saved IN SPITE OF the things I've just mentioned, or do these things mean that I was never saved in the first place? Is there anyone out there who can answer this for me? If the latter turns out to be true, what else do I need to do to be TRULY saved? I can't change the things I like to do, I can't change my feelings and attitudes on my own, only God can do that, I pray about that all the time and my prayers seem to go unheard!

yes, i have doubted in my salvation many times, one because i stumbled and fell, two, because i was told that Jesus never wanted me, and three because of all of the pain I went through my entire life...

Yes, I have doubted and I hate to admit it. We all know what the Apsotle James said about one who doubts.

I as someone else in here said, doubted when I was called into ministry. I study apologetics and I read a lot of anti-Christian material so I can defend Christianity. WOW! when I started studying all this false stuff it had and still has an effect on my faith. I now realize a Christian has to be really strong in faith to study the critics and athiests. I still feel led to study apologetics and ask for your prayers in doing so.

I pray and go to God's word when I doubt and everytime God reassures me of my salvation and call upon my life. It's amazing how much we forget God does for us, but He will reassure you if you ask and of course if you belong to Him.

Rick
