Uhh, we use it every day and still are, plus ceiling fans.

I keep it between 72-74. I like a chilly house.

We never turn ours off in Atlanta! I keep the house at 70*, but the bedroom goes down to 67* at night or I can't sleep!

We still have 100 degree days and will have upper 90s for the next few weeks, so ours is still in use and will be for a few more weeks. It just doesn't run as often as mid summer. It stays at 78, night and day unless we leave the house for long periods of time. Then we turn it up to 80 while we're gone.

Ours comes on for the first time in early May and will probably be used for the last time sometime towards the end of September. Occasionally we've hit 100 in October, so there are no guarantees.

Never. We don't have it. I did make great use of the AC in the hospital while Brian was there though. We kept his room at 68. I also ran the AC regularly in the van on the way there and home, since we did an experiment that showed we didn't really use much more gas to use the AC.

Karlie, we often have the first few snows of the year in October.

Wow! Mid October is just starting to get nice and fall-like here! Our prime summer temps are between 103-112, sometimes higher, so it takes awhile for fall to find us!

I'm jealous of the snow though..we don't have snow here in the valley.

but have no money to run the ac.

That's a good point. While my a/c has been on all summer long, if I had to pay for it, it definitely would have been turned off (or at least down.) However, our utilities are included in our rent so we haven't had to worry. I'm hoping Dh doesn't get too used to a/c because once we own a house, we'll be making some changes!

We've had 42 days over 100 degrees so far this summer (it was 105 today) ... and expect at least a half dozen more days. And there have been an additional 30+ days over 95. We see temps in the 100s from May through September (5 months) here in sizzling central California.

I didn't turn on the a/c until mid-July when my wonderful DH returned from being deployed to Iraq. We've used it probably 10 times since then ... we last used it on Thursday since it was 106. We may use it again in the next few weeks before he redeploys BACK to Iraq for his 5th time.

We haven't turned the heater on since February 2007, though.

I've had my air conditioner on since I came back from my vacation at the beginning of July. I think I actually turned it during the last week in May (but was gone for the month of June, and kept it off during that time).

This is the most I've used an air conditioner in the past 8 years . . . but then where I lived from 2000 - 9/07 doesn't even have or need AC in most of the houses.

I much prefer to live where I didn't even need AC and can open the windows for fresh air. I don't like humidity at all. Here, I open the front door to the house, and it feels as if I've opened an oven door, and within 5 minutes I'm dripping wet. By the time I get to the post office, I have to mop myself off before going up to the customer service counter. LOL

I have no idea how much my AC has affected my power bill; because that's included in my rent. However, even with all that I have ran it, it must not have been too bad . . . I have a monetary cap on how much electricity is included; and anything over that amount I have to pay . . . of which I haven't had to do yet.

Harvie, we rarely (almost never!) use our heat too. So I think it probably evens out.

My a/c has been on since April/May and will stay on for about another month.

The humidity around here ruins everything, so we are almost forced to use a/c to keep the mold/mildew at bay. My electric bill is extremely reasonable, so I'm not complaining.

We rarely use the heat in the winter.

Same here in SE Alabama.

What's amazing, is that I grew up in NW Florida and my parents didn't get AC until after I was an adult and gone. I did, however, have a window fan for summer.

same here, 'cept it was my grandparents (we lived with them off/on) and central FL, but still...

I think that's why I HAVE to have a fan to sleep with now. I proudly blame my grandaddy for that one.
