My family eats pretty early, usually at 4:30 or 5:00. My boyfriends family eats around 8:00. I guess we'll have to compromise So what time do you eat dinner? Is it a set time every night? Or do you just get dinner on the table whenever you can?

I have dinner ready at 6:00 just about the time everyone is home from work and school. I would prefer a bit earlier but that wouldn't fit into our schedule.

Between 5:30 and 7:00 pm, depending on if I go to the gym after work or not.

I prefer earlier, I don't like waiting to eat dinner late either.

Kevin comes home anywhere between 6:30 and 7:30. We eat then; sometimes it's on the cold side if it's been waiting an hour, though!

I wish I had a set dinner time. When I was growing up we pretty much had a set dinner time. But then my mom pretty much knew when my dad would be home

It can vary from 5:30-7 sometimes on when my husband comes home. So we usually eat sometime between then.

We use to have a set time 5:30 when kids were home but now with just the two of us we eat any time between 5 and 8 depending on what we're doing and how we feel.

I'm not working an outside job right now, DH gets home most nights anywhere between 5:30 & 6:00, so I try to have dinner ready at around 5:45. When I worked an outside job, I didn't get home myself till 5:30, so dinner was usually around 7:00.

On weekends, we usually eat a late breakfast and an early dinner, around 3:00-4:00, then maybe a ligth snack later if we get hungry before bed.

When I worked outside and also had a mid-week ministry, we didn't eat until afterwards on those nights, usually not until 9:00 pm or later.

I work till 5:30 but I try to have it ready to eat about 6:30. On Wed when we have AWANA the kids go to my parents and eat there and put something in the oven to be ready when I get out.

Tricia: can your dh call you when he leaves so you know what time he will get home so you can plan a little better?

He does usually call when he's going to be later than, say, 7:15 or so. He gets involved at work (his job is a lot of brain work) and doesn't think to call until he looks at the clock and sees it's so late.

I don't mind. I'm used to it. And he has no place to complain if the food is cold, so he doesn't. He's pretty easygoing about stuff like that.

I try to keep it between 6 and 7 pm. If I know dh will be home at 7, I wait supper for him, but otherwise I feed the kids at 6 because it helps avoid the crankies and gets them in bed on time.

Dh was used to eating supper at 9 pm or later, and it's taken him a while to get used to eating so early.

We don't have regular set times anymore now that the kids are gone and our schedules have changed. We eat around 5:30 or 6 on the nights I cook. The nights we go out, we usually go earlier, like around 4-5pm to beat the crowd. But, on school days when I don't get home until 7pm, we usually go eat around 7:30-8ish.
