ORIGINAL: christsstar According to some reading I've been doing, it's not a zygote once it implants. A zygote is simply a fertilized egg before it splits. After it starts splitting and multiplying, it's officially an embryo. So it's an embryo that implants, not a zygote. And after reading that, my biology class came back to me and I remembered it. Gametes=>zygote (sperm+egg but no cell division)=>morula (cell division)=>blastocyst=>embryo (from implantation to wk 8)=>fetus. Some have taken to calling zygote through embryo an embryo, so it may be becoming accepted. That might be off, but... I tend to forget stuff when I've taken the final and moved on. :) Embryology's great though; I'd recommend it to any student if they want to be stressed for a few months. ETA: the blastocyst is what implants... I remember that because the part that digs into the lining is the trophoblast. I think I found the terminology to be cool, so I retained it. Good luck, Fluff! I'm sure whatever happens today, it'll work out in the end.

Wow, that's a lot of names. LOL....so yeah, it's a baby. Good luck at your appointment. Are you getting a female exam too? If it's your first ever, you can ask for a child speculum.

I should've learned that in my physiology class though. In fact, I probably did. But didn't retain it. I don't remember a lot of my biology, but general chemistry: I'm your gal. At any rate ... good luck Jennifery. The first appt is the hardest one. After that, they are easier. Just remember to BREATHE!!!

Okay so I went today and it was not bad as I had thought it to be ....the whole uncomfortable part was over fairly quickly...and he gave me a prescription for ortho tric-cyclen (generic) although they found a lump on my breast and he believes it is more then likely a cyst but he made me appointment tomorrow with radiology place to have it checked out.

Jennifer ... I've been there. At age 25 my doctor found a lump in my breast too. It was also just a cyst. Because I had health insurance, I went ahead and had it removed. But I know exactly how you feel. Glad it was a good experience for you today. Glad the uncomfortableness was over quickly. The trick is to just relax and breathe. And they only get easier after you get married.

Well today I went to doctor and they did an ultra sound and then I sat and waited in dark room for awhile but I got good results I thought it was going to be a cyst but it was Fibroadenomas which is a non-cancerous tumor. He told me not to worry and everything was going to be fine but they want to have a biopsy or w.e. to get a sample and test it... which Im going to talk to my doctor and see if I could put it off until after I get married... unless he thinks I should go ahead with it now... but I am happy to hear good news because it runs in family apparently :/ my aunts has had problems with it but they get it and it comes back... Doctor said If I was taking vitaman E to stop but multi ones are okay. anyways just thought I should share my praise

Sounds good Jennifer. Thanks for the update. I'm pleased you were able to get in so soon. When I had mine I had to wait almost 2 weeks for the mammogram appt. Talk about nerve-wracking. I hear ya on the "running in the family" bit. My family has cyst issues. All of our breasts are very fibrous and it's not uncommon to have lots of cysts because of it.

That must have been never-wracking... I am glad I found out that day although the waiting seemed to be very long lol Breast Cancer runs on both sides of my family so I am really taking this as oppertunity to check more often... I think I will hold off the biopsy at least until after I am married but my doctor may think differently?

I personally would not wait to do the biopsy...even though they are pretty sure it is benign. It is done by needle aspiration and heals quickly and does not leave a large scar...and it would be just done that way.

I ditto WOF, I wouldn't wait either. Biopsies suck, I've had 3 done on my cervix but it's much easier to know and not have to worry. Not to mention if there is something wrong...
