ORIGINAL: BlessedMamaofmany Jeanie. Thanks for the birthday wishes to my man (it was to him right? ) LOL. I'm so telling him you said happy birthday! That is going to tickle him pink!! You are the bee's knees!! And no. There is still no chocolate in my house. It.is.NOT.good. I'm thinking about making a run to the dollar general after the littles go to bed. Justin and I did not have a good convo on yahoo today, it's my own fault. I was acting like a baby. So I really need some chocolate today. Boohoo! Sandy Definitely the birthday wishes were for YOUR Justin! Happy Birthday, Justin!! (See, there it is again!) Birthday wishes everywhere! Was it a big one this time, a round number? A multiple of five? Divisible by seven? Just wondering... You need your chocolate. I would really be over there tonight with cookies and a bag of it if I lived nearby (and if you'd let me in the house). I would bring Adam and then you'd know it was safe because he's super pleasant and, well, he's just fun to have around. He could make friends with your kids! I'm sorry about the yahoo thing. I feel unqualified to comment but knowing how much you think of your man and he thinks of you, it must be so hard to be apart day after day. I hope that R&R comes through for him (January, was it?). And that January gets here fast then! Go, Sandy! Go, Justin!!!!! I am scrappy hungry today. My husband is fasting (this is Day 6) so I'm on my own for dinner but I haven't planned anything and I am scrounging. I think I'll be going out to grab something. I also want to make a lemon blueberry cake (recipe from Martha Stewart). My next-door neighbor is a great friend of mine for over 20 years now (that's how we knew this place was for sale before it hit the market) and I would love to bring her a piece (or 2 or 3)....she loves the lemon/blueberry combo. Hmmmmm.....might have to get that recipe out, oh, and the other Flourless Chocolate Torte recipe. Jessica, I hope you are having fun at the wedding in Virginia today and that Judah gets some real sleep! I have to admit it made me chuckle and smile that he is so social that sleeping in a room with his family he has to chat till 2 a.m. (as if he didn't see you all day and is catching up on old times). That kid is a riot. Jeanie

Crystal, they are monitoring Greg for blood in his urine, but he's had that his whole life. He was also born with 1 kidney, so they're keeping an eye on that, but basically he's fine. Thanks for asking. I am feeling much worse. The zoo took a lot out of me. I'm concerned that if I try to go to bed this early it will really mess up my sleep schedule, but thankfully Greg is putting Nathan to bed now. He really has been very sweet today.

It's just something I decided long ago that I didn't want my kids playing with. There are several reasons...they dress like tramps, every house I've ever seen them in they lie around naked and I don't want that around my boys, and I just don't like the body image they portray. There are much more realistically shaped, better clothed dolls, and some even have "permanent undies" molded into their plastic. We feel the same way about them. No Barbies in this house, either... quote:
I was thinking of two particular instances where I was there with my sister and my children got pretty hurt (Hannah busted her lip badly and then Jael fell down on concrete and smacked the back of her head badly). One day Gabby and I were laying in bed and she was standing/sitting on my chest. She slipped and busted her gums on the edge of the dresser Everyone is different... I would let my 15yo sister take Gabby 'out', I know she loves her, has her best interests at heart and wouldn't be purposefully neglectful. Actually, if she were a little older she would probably be our "backup" guardian should Micah and I plus my parents all be killed in some freak accident. Ruth, I'm glad to hear that Greg is feeling good about life The whole stock market thing is stressful... Micah has given me a Dow Jones 'number' where it would be possible for his job to be on the line... it came rather close yesterday but things seem rather stable with his job. We have backups, but he really loves what he is doing and would not enjoy the backups as much.

Aww Happy Birthday to Justin!! I am glad you found some chocolate!! Sometimes when I get desparate I mix icing sugar and cocoa together and make choc icing and eat it from the bowl. LOL Grace has a few Barbies, but she does prefer to play with dolls and teddies and "my little ponies" I don't think there is anything major wrong with them as long as there is a good solid foundation of teaching about things.. I grew up with loads of Barbies and nothing is wrong with me (shhhhhh, no smart comments )

My brother's visit was wonderful. Absolutely wonderful! He brought a friend who I'm known forever and her little boy too. It was a lot of fun. We're planning a "hand and foot" night some night...put the kids to bed first and then play cards half the night. LOL Nice to see my brother having fun without drugs or alcohol. I think he's realizing that it wasn't really fun doing that anyway, and none of those people were true friends either. What is really interesting to me is that Matt was saved as a young child. He has not lived for God since his early teens, when he started down the wrong paths. Yet, he does believe he was truly saved as a child. I have often wondered where he is concerned about my "once saved always saved" theology. I know I was saved at 13 and I also went through a very rebellious, destructive few years, and I know I was saved through it all. I don't know why it's interesting to me, but it is. I'm just so glad my brother has come back to God...and to his family! I don't think I even knew how much I loved him because I was constantly wanting to punch him in the head for all the stupidity he was doing. Totally different topic (my brain is completely random)...we are having people over after church tomorrow. I made chili tonight...TONS of veggies and beans, a little meat. Chili, cornbread, and apple crisp. Is that not the perfect fall meal??! Chili is in the crockpot and I just know I'm going to have to have a bowl for breakfast. What is your favorite fall meal?

Ruth, glad Greg is doing OK after last week's episode. LOL, when you said he was born with one kidney, I was thinking we had two livers, and yeah well duh he only has one kidney. My brain is off today. Donna, that's great news about your bro. I hope he keeps it up. LOL, what is it with chocolate? I like chocolate as much as the next gal, but man, the only time I get that cranky is when I don't have coffee. LOL Rachel, that sounds like so much fun. I wanna join your Sunday school class! Mmm, Chili sounds good Donna. I wouldn't say it's my fav fall meal, but I'm glad I can make my own pinto beans on the stove again. I don't like canned beans that much, they don't taste nothin' like mine, so I'm glad it's cool enough for me to be boiling water for hours.

Oh...just the fact that you couldn't really rely on your family for help if you needed it or that your kids didn't have that grandparent bond. Does that make sense? Joel and I are sad sometimes when we think that our kids won't have good grandparents that they can go and visit or see during Summer Vacation times...

What is your favorite fall meal? I make a Mexican chicken tortilla soup with zucchini. OH MY! It's fantastic. I've got the zucchini in the fridge right now. I think I'm making it for Sunday dinner with some corn muffins.

Fall meal? I dunno. I'm a big fan of lasagna, and if a lady nearby me just had a baby, then my default meal to bring her is a big pan of lasagna and a loaf of homemade banana bread (unless she'd really prefer something else). Donna that's wonderful about your brother. I'm so happy for you. My brother is not a practicing Christian, although from the outside he's living a great life. He's an Air Force Captain, with a wonderful wife, and they've traveled throughout Europe. They are doing well financially, etc... I'm very proud of him, but I deeply wish that he and she returned to the church, but they just don't see a need, I guess.

Attended church with BIL and SIL, and Nathan was all right. He would not tolerate the nursery, even though his cousins were there and older niece tried to be nice and "read" books to him. We had to take him out of the sanctuary at least once. The ELCA certainly is more liberal than our Synod of Lutheranism, but it was nice to worship with family. The people there were very friendly. We all went up for communion, and although little ones do not receive communion, they do receive a blessing from the pastor. The pastor even blessed Elizabeth through my abdomen. I thought it was sweet.

That's sounds really nice, Ruth. How's Nathan's pooping thing going? Did it clear up?

Oh, yes, Christina, thank you. Poops are still soft, but not alarmingly so.
