We have different gifts according, to the grace given us. Romans 12:6 God made us who we are. He gave each of us special gifts and He created a niche that only we can fill. He only asks us to serve Him, allowing Him to work through us to reach other people. Prayer Lord, the gifts You gave me make me unique. I would'ent be the person I am without them. Please help me to see the opportunities You give me to use those gifts.

Good Monday Morning Everyone From last weeks thread: Ginny, Stoney Creek Inn lokks like a wonderful place to see. Wish I could have seen them quilts. I trust you had a good time. Leah, Yes, we felt some of Hurrican Ike. Altho not as bad as you folks down south. Just got rain all day yesterday from it. Also rainned all day Sat from a front comeing through. Lets just say the week-end was a "wash-out" Dee, I managed to get to some garage sales on Sat. In between the rain showers that is. Friday night turned out to be a nice "night out" The meal was good and so was the company. Afterwards we went to pick up Cody from his football game. Had to wait in the school parking lot for an hour tho. But I hated to go home, just for him to call us that he was back. They won the game, and came back very happy They hav'ent won that team in more that 17 years! Sat. morning I had to call the dentist. My front tooth fell out! It was a cap..and had been loose for a while now. Needed to call my dentist, at his home, and get him to open up his office to cement that tooth back in place! Was'ent gonna go all week-end with just a nub of a front tooth! He had to place a rod into the tooth nub for it to stay in place. But all is well, and I got my tooth back in place. LOL Then we went to a few garage slaes in our town. Hubby found a 4-wheeler, battery toy for Ethan to ride around in. Had to go to buy new batteries for it tho. But Ethan LOVED. He looks sooo cute rideing around in his yard on it. Sunday me and my oldest daughter froze corn. Had to cut it off the cobs, cook it, and put it in freezer bags. We did four dozen all together. Then I had to scrub my sticky kitchen floor afterwards. What a mess. I still have the dishes to do.

Good morning, Barb. Sounds like you had a busy weekend. I did too, and it feels good to relax at home this morning. In fact, I was relaxing in my recliner -- with Garrett crawling all over me of course, but it was still a bit of relaxing . . . . . . Yuk on the tooth! Glad you were able to get that fixed. Saturday, we had the community outreach from 10:00 to 2:00, giving away groceries and winter coats, and also having free popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, juice and funnel cakes for everyone. It was a fun day, but I was ready for it to be over. That evening we went to my sisters for a Tupperware party, then to play cards. She'd made a big pot of delicious chili for everyone, so that was nice. Sunday, as I said in the other thread, our power went out, so we dealt with that until about 2:00. Then late afternoon my sil called to say their power was still out, and since they are total electric, I invited them over for supper and to relax with us for a while. Her daughter & family were home, so they came with them. I made a big pot of hamburger-vegetable soup, and a triple batch of cornbread. I made fix a pot of beans today to finish up the cornbread with. Also want to bake a cake today.

Just stopping in for a minute to ask for prayer. We're all sick and it's been a tough one on the lungs. I have had asthma in the past and I really had to fight this time. I have no energy and can't seem to get to where I can drive anywhere. My head is "blurry" when I move too fast! Hope all are well! Blessings! I'll stop in when I'm better!

Momma-mo . . so sorry you've been sick, which I forgot to address in my PM to you. It sounds like you have an inner ear thing going on. This is allergy season around here. I'll pray for you. Barb, glad you got so much accomplished. I finally have gotten something done . . . put on a pot of beans to go with the cornbread we had left from last night. Will likely make some fried taters & onions also. Then I stirred up my Autumn Apple Surprise cake and a pan of brownies -- figure the boys will prefer the brownies, and that will leave the cake for me & Bill . . . . I also made up some more hummingbird feed. They have already emptied what I put ou tthere the other day -- sheesh! I filled up one feeder, and the big one was about 3/4 full. Now it is only about 1/2 full, and the smaller one is empty again. Guess they are getting ready for their flight south. I actually managed not to wipe out the kitchen too badly. I emptied the dishwasher before I started, so now all the dirty dishes will fit back in there.

Yeah, Barb, the bees got pretty bad on ours also, so I put honey in the bee traps and put them out. There were still one or two yellow jackets buzzing around, but the trap took care of mose of them.

Here it is the season when the yellow jackets want to move indoors. One of my favourite coffee shops has a problem with this. When I was there yesterday, I thought I felt something on the back of my arm/shoulder. I reached out to see what it was and discovered it was a yellow jacket about to crawl under my dress. Didn't realize WHAT kind of creature it was though, until after I had grabbed it and threw it as far from me as possible. Sure glad it didn't sting me--either when crawling on me or when I grabbed it. Momma Mo, I'm sorry you're all so sick. That's icky. We need prayer here too. Good Tues. Morning Everyone {{Maggie}} I posted in your thread. I guess the late summer is also bringing colds to my household. My hubby was up during the night coughing so much. I felt sorry for him. I'm trying to ward it off so I don't catch it. But things like the common cold seem to spread fast in a household. After supper last night, I went out to cut the front grass. It was still a tad wet..but I cut it anyways. Got most of it finished before it got dark out. Will finish up the one patch today. With all the rain we had, it sure was long. Hubby was up on the roof trying to figure out where it leaks. We have had a problem with it leaking inside for awhile now. He goes up and calks around the bottom chimmney, just to have it leak in the liveingroom again. Now he finally figured it out! Guess the wood chimmney itself must have a crack in the wood. All the time he thought it was around the bottom. So he's gonna buy some vinyl sideing and redo the whole chimmney. We descovered the wood mantel, by the fireplace, is warped from all the water dripping in. Plus some of my picture frames are warped on the back. But the mantel really bothered me. I don't want to replace that with all the stone around it. You can't see it so, I guess I will just leave it alone. Guess it adds character to it Cody orders his lettermans jacket today at school. Last year he got one given to him. It was from another students dad. Well I took it in and had it dry cleanned, got the patches it needed and had someone sew them all on, plus I had his name sewed on it. But after all that time, and money spent on this, hand-me-down jacket, he never wore it. Well I talked to him a couple weeks ago, and asked him WHY? He confessed to me he does'ent like it. Seems the arms are to long, and it's rather scratchy to wear. Plus it's a different color from the ones all the other football players were wearing. All in all...it was rather outdated. So it was decided that he can order a new one..just for himself. The kid never asks for anything. He's such a good kid. He does'ent even want a class ring. So if it's a NEW Lettermans jacket that he wants..well I felt justified to buy it for him. Me and hubby are gonna put another coat of stain on the deck floor this week-end. Thought we would get it done before winter rolls in. That way it has two coats on it. It's suppose to be warm, in the 70's over the week-end. So best to get it done while it's warm out. Guess it's time to place the fall decorations out there also. We might even squeeze a boat ride in over the week-end.

Good morning, Barb. Sorry to hear you're getting colds already. It was quite chilly here this morning -- and still is! In fact, I just plugged in one of our small space heaters cuz the living room is just too cold. It looked like frost on the grass in the field, but surely it wasn't -- just a heavy dew I guess. Hope you guys get the leak fixed before it starts raining again. I'm glad Cody's getting a new jacket. He really does sound like an unselfish kid. Those kind you really have to watch out for or they can be sorely neglected. I'm going to do a little dusting and cleaning here this morning, then start sewing when Garrett leaves for school. He needs to take a nap this morning, tho. Yesterday after school he was so defiant with me, even trying to hit out at me when I corrected him or tried to pull him out of things he wasn't supposed to be into. It was nearly time for his dad when I realized he was just too tired, and was likely acting out because of that. I'd finally set him in the rocking chair for a 'time out'. He was only sitting there a few minutes when he fell fast asleep with his head resting on the arm of the chair. He's such a little tyke, and the arm was just the right height for him to rest his head on. He looked so sweet. Daddy thought so too, when he came to pick him up -- he just went on & on about how sweet he was, and tried to sweet talk him into waking up. Didn't work tho -- he wound up carrying him to the car

I hope you don't catch his cold, Barb. You guys have warmer temps than us -- it is still only 63 here, partially cloudy. I have turned the heat off, now that Garrett has gone to school, but it was quite nippy in here this morning. I'll have to remember to start turning that heater on earlier in the morning to take the chill off before he gets here. Our trees haven't started to turn yet, but I'm sure they will shortly, especially with a few more cold nights like we've had. My cake is in the oven -- yes, another cake today! Our niece's father-in-law passed away over the weekend, funeral tomorrow, so thought I'd bake something to help out with the food at my Judi's. This is the father of the guy who was so helpful with our flooring this spring. I really should make something else to take over . . guess I'll have to study on that for a bit.

When I was at the Forks on Sunday, some of the trees were completely yellow. It was very pretty.

Good morning, Barb. It's beautiful here this morning, too, and I can imagine how the sun shining thru the trees and onto the lake must be very peaceful looking. As far as our loved ones watching over us, well, he's right in that they are not 'angels' to watch over us or protect us -- God HAS provided angels for just that reason; and we DO go right to Him when we die. As far as our loved ones not being able to see what happens on earth from heaven, that's not so easily answered. I've done some research on this, and have found nothing in the Bible that says clearly one way or another, tho it does 'hint' in a couple of places that they can. It comforts me to think that my loved ones can see me and maybe even pray for me from where they are in heaven, so until I am convinced otherwise, that's what I'll believe I've been to the gym . . running a bit late leaving as the lady there was talking to me. And Garrett's daddy was running a bit early, so he left Garrett with Bill, who was happy to watch him until I got home. Now he's left for work, Garrett's watching the Backyardigans, and I'm having my McD's coffee while playing on here

Maggie, I questioned about my loved ones being able to "see" me. Not praying to them..or any Saint. I grew up being a Catholic, and switched churches to Lutheran when I married. I also beleive in praying to only God. Always have. But I do say goodnight to mom, after every nightime prayer sent up to God.

I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to what you wrote. Before you posted, I went and deleted my post, deciding that I was out of line. Please forgive me.
