For example, it is a statement of FACT to say that the general public is largely uninformed and/or misinformed. That is not "left" or "right" - yet people want to sling "liberal" and "conservative" around because of their personal bias and hatred. Sure, the general public is not largely comprised of illiterate farmers as in previous centuries - but that doesn't mean we are informed. Also, some people don't have the capacity to receive information - therein lies another problem.

Add how do you know the 'general public' is uninformed (besides watching Jay Leno that is), and how did you become superior to them?

That is the underlying problem - individuals live in their own separate reality. Fact and Truth are replaced with personal bias with no clear reason. I think the amount of outrage is likely feigned, and a sneer isn't going to make that disingenuous go away. People aren't stupid, but they aren't always honest, either.

So now people who bothered by the elitism of the left are lying. Amazing how the denigration continues.

I even gave you a clue. If you weren't willing to have an intelligible discussion in the first place, you could have had the courtesy to let me know before I felt the need to be all helpful.

Well, I don't know how us stupid folk could think at all without the help of our left-wing overseers.

Oh, I'm sure you understand me. You strike me as a smart guy. But as I said, there's a general malaise of misinterpretation (to the point of outrage), and I think you're eagerly feeding into that.

Come on now! You can't be serious - LOL. Have you ever watched town hall style debates - it's often hilarious. I'm not being elitist, I'm stating fact. The majority of us are uninformed, there are just varying degrees. The political/corporate elite sure don't share private information with me. You? Have you ever watched the Q&A on Jay Leno when he asks questions on the street? Although funny, it is SHOCKING what the average American doesn't know about their own country, among other things. It's not elitist to say Americans are uninformed, but it is naive to assume we are informed. I'm not talking about the "left" or "right" - I'm talking about "us". It would be nice to have an objective and scholarly debate with non-biased inquiry an discussion - but, the American people just can't handle that and the politicians don't want that.

I do not think people who take the time and effort to attend town hall discussions are ignorant of the important issues of the day; and I think most people who bother to vote know much better what issues are important to them than do the elitist left.

I guess you mean guys like this- yeah right, that question is definately on point. LOL. Town hall meetings are a joke.

No, what I am doing it contravening the disdain the left expresses for normal Americans.

Most of ALL the people that attend those town hall meetings cast their votes in November.

Given the inability of certain people to accept that "the left" is in fact composed of a good deal of normal Americans (~50%, depending on the issue), I think the disdain shoe is on the wrong foot. At the very least, we're walking barefoot.

So, I contravene your disdain for the left. And I contravene the incessant whining. Can't we talk about something interesting?

No, as one who was once a member of the left, 50% certainly have no part of it. The generally comprises a much smaller portion of the electorate than to the right and center.

It's a downward spiral that sucks otherwise well-meaning individuals in. I tried to pull a few out, and got caught up myself. It's a tragedy.

I have no idea why I should be giving weight to your anecdote. As a current member of the left, ~50% (depending on the issue) certainly have a part of it. If you want to talk about the center, there's some blending in the middle, but that's where the "depending on the issue" is important. I myself am a pro-globalization, pro-gun, pro-nuclear, anti-protest member of the left.

The political culture in America (including the left) is more to the right than in many other countries though, if that's what you were talking about.

Well, I know my anecdotal evidence is superior because most of the people I know tell me it is.

The problem with people in society that think they are "informed" and always "right", is that they're NOT. Ha. They're part of the legion of the duped, whether you are for McCain or Obama. All information you get is through a medium. You don't know these candidates otherwise. Candidates are marketed and sold to a buyer - just like everything else in this country. If someone is marketing leadership and other qualities, it is because they HAVE too. They have to sell it because it's clearly not visible - and most likely not the reality. Does a great leader have to say they're a great leader - or hire a staff of writers and marketers to tell people they're a great leader? NO they don't. Their leadership abilities are easily recognized.

I'm glad you think you're "informed", but you're just choosing Crest over Colgate because that's what mama gave you. You are being marketed a particular brand - and the sad part is, you confuse that with truth and/or being "informed". You read a packaging label, but you're not at the factory my friend. If one is not behind the scenes, the fact is - they just don't know. But, they will sure fight over it - whether Crest vs. Colgate or Ford vs. Chevy - or, I guess I need to spell it out for certain crowds - Democrat vs. Republician. There are a lot of dynamics involved with this human phenomenon, but it's clearly a waste of time discussing it here. In any case, political consumers are usually to involved with their "information" to see anything objectively.

So, good luck with the "information" you bought. People that think their information is correct, are the easiest sell - because they don't question - that's salesmanship 101. Ford vs. Chevy........whatever. Good luck with all that media "information" you possess.

I only need one piece of information. I look into the eyes of Obama when he is doing one of his stump speeches and I see absolute hatred in his eyes.

Those kind of eyes send me fleeing, as fast as I can, in the other direction.

His eyes tell it all

First, I'm not an Obama proponent. I'm a registered Republican, but I'm pro-America first - which few politicians are these days. However, what you see is what you WANT TO SEE - did you see McCain's blood vessels bulging time and again in 2000 - when newcomer GWB outmaneuvered him? Have you seen McCain lose his cool MANY MANY times among fellow Republicians? I have. The root of hatred is selfishness and ego - McCain shows that, so you KNOW it's there - under the surface, out of the media sound bites. He is clearly power hungry, and he does NOT add up to his marketing pitch. Does Obama? Not really - I say "not really" only because he hasn't been around "forever", pitching the same old g-a-r-b-a-g-e over the last 3 decades. He's had his chances - he's part of America's problem. Part of the reason he fails so often (as in 2000) is because people see through him - I don't think they're fully conscious of it, but something doesn't sit right - so, he fails and tries and tries again. Look, actions are everything - there is truth in action. Where you "choose" to see hatred (you realize that is emotion-based and not logic - like Ford vs. Chevy) others see conviction, intensity, and drive - or other things. But YES, Obama is every bit as selfish and power hungry as McCain. But, he hasn't demonstrated it time and again as has McCain. Btw, have you ever "really" looked closely at Bush, Cheney, or Rumsfeld's eyes - do you see happiness and kindness there - just curious? To me they are black. Actually, Cheney's are empty - he became President (yeah, pretty much) by collecting dirt and "information" on fellow Republicians, then he stabbed them in the back. To reach positions of power requires cunning, strategy, and warfare on various levels - it's been that way since the dawn of civilization - just study a little history. If you're looking for a truly caring, loving and giving person - the politicical arena ain't the place.

I'm certainly not a Democrat but I think the uproar over the whole lipstick on a pig is ridiculous and the fact that it's going on and on over there is silly. I think it's great that now it's got Obama tied to a teleprompter as if he were a pit bull himself. But I think the "issue" is that people are making that their issue.
