And this is why I may still vote for Barr or Paul.

It's wonderful to finally have an ally here!

Well you guys are welcome to that idiot, Ron Paul.

He voted AGAINST hurricane relief for his own state. I hope the people in his district have enough sense to vote that idiot out.

I'm sorry, I don't normally call people names... and I normally support republicans at all costs, but this election I am praying that his democrat opponent cleans his clock in the election.

I am at a loss for words to dedscribe my revulsion for this dispicable act.

I bet if the feds and states didn't tax at the rate they do, there would be NO NEED FOR ANYONE TO VOTE FOR OR AGAINST HURRICANE RELIEF!

Private giving responds to the victims of disasters better than the government. Think how much more people could give is the tax rate was a quarter of what it is.

Well that's wonderful comfort for those in dire straights RIGHT NOW!

Taxes are what they are and the need for relief in the Texas gulf coast is immediate.

Yes, yes, yes, BIG GOVERNMENT TO THE RESCUE! It has always worked so well in the past, hasn't it?

The RINOs are obviously stampeding these days. Still, it looks like some of the GOP have enough sense to resist running off the cliff with the rest of the herd.

Here is a recent press release from Ron Paul's office:

quote:

September 15, 2008

Congressional Office Available for Assistance

UPDATE: The Congressional office in Victoria is now available for constituent assistance at 361-576-1231

Washington , DC – Congressman Ron Paul continues to be gravely concerned about the devastation caused by Hurricane Ike in Texas and getting help to everyone affected is his utmost priority.

Congressional offices have been staffed over the weekend for constituents in the 14th district. Those in need of information or assistance from the congressional office are advised to call 361-576-1231 and we will do our very best to help. The Congressman’s office is acting as a liaison between Federal agencies and constituents to ensure that available assistance is as accessible as possible, and that FEMA and other government agency activities are appropriate, efficient and helpful to Texans. In addition, Congressman Paul’s office seeks to ensure that private aid organizations are also allowed to help.

In addition:

The Red Cross can be contacted at 866-GET-INFO (438-4636) or TX211

FEMA can be contacted at (800) 621-FEMA or at www.fema.gov

Right! So concerned that he votes AGAINST the relief his district needs.

Fortunately the relief bill passed overwhelmingly. Hopefully the voters in his district see his hypocritical "concern" for what it really is.

It's not hypocritical for a person to actually have, and act on, ethical standards that limit the government.

Of course, RINOs and other flavor of liberals like the socialist solution to their problems. It's easy to sit back and let the government do it for you. Socialism is the creed of the lazy. No need to think: the government will tell me what to do, or better yet, do it for me.

RINOs on the stampede!

No, but it is hypocritical to voice "grave concern" about the devastation and then do absolutely nothing about it.

Letting the free market work is not "not doing anything."

Some people are more afraid of the cure than of the disease.

Dubya,

It sounds like from the article that you posted, he is helping. Looks like you don't have a case at all.

Right. He is helping get the aid which he voted against.
That is certainly not hypocritical is it?

Glad you've changed your mind, apparently, about the amazing assistance and sage words of Ron Paul.

I'm pretty sure that I'm dumping McCain after this fiasco.

Actually, no it's not. Just because he voted against it does not mean his constituents are not entitled to it. They are still paying for it after all. And he was also referring people to private charities in addition to that.

Ron Paul
His nickname "Dr. No"[25] reflects both his medical degree and his insistence that he will "never vote for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution."

His hypocritical "concern" for what it really is IMO is that Big government no longer does its business that is expressly authorized by the Constitution, the legislation concerning economy is being back doored and legislated by judiciary “not congress”, and those secret deals are being hidden from the press and the American people to vote on.

So
The Congressman’s office is acting as a liaison between Federal agencies and constituents to ensure that available assistance is "as accessible" as possible….
....Now the reason why that is being done is because those agencies make a ton of money for the bureaucracy first!

Maybe this is off topic but Ron Paul is the greatest conservative mind since the great Ronald Reagan.

Ron Paul would disagree with you on that because it was the big spending policies of Ronald Reagan than began Dr. Paul's relationship with the Libertarian Party.

Back to the OP, if the republicans lose, they will not cry "anti-Christian". It won't even occur to most of us. We will be too busy bracing ourselves for the political, social, religious and economic hurricane that will be hitting us. And few of us will look to Ron Paul for salvation.

Way to bring it back on topic and then back to Ron Paul! My thought is, just for fun, they could cry sexism. Enlist the Hilary people and all.
