Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold
of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies
behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the
upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philipians 3:13,14 NAS

You become successful the moment you start
moving toward a worthwhile goal.

Good Monday morning, everyone. I needed to hear this today . . . kind of jumped out at me from the pages of a devotional. I NEED a goal, and I need to know I have hope of achieving it. So, from this moment, I am successful

{{{{{{{Momma-Mo}}}}}}}}}} I hope you and your household are feeling better this morning, and won't have to make another trip to the hospital.

{{{{{{{{{Maggie}}}}}}}}} I hope you got a good night's sleep and wake feeling refreshed and rested.

Dee, I need to ask my girls about Webkinz. Likely they have checked into that.

Barb, what is on your agenda for today? . . . you coming this way -- cuz if you are, I could make out a list for us --- starting with a big cuppa coffee

It's a nice, crisp fall morning here in the Ozarks --- oh, I DO love fall! I'm all ready for the gym -- even had my first cuppa coffee, so will be leaving momentarily.

Good Monday Morning Everyone

Leah, thank you for starting us out this week. I was so hopeing someone would. Love the verse. No, not comeing down that way..but if I was I would take a big cup of decaf coffee. Altho you could come up here and help me with these THREE 5gal. buckets of apples and another bussel comeing tonight
I have blisters on my finger becuse of all these apples. Not that I'm complaining...my tree has never produced so many apples before!
But everytime hubby brings in more I want to scream.
I have put away 31 qts of applesauce and five qt. bags of sliced apples so far...

{{{Momma-mo}}}
Hope you and the family are back on the mend real soon.

{{{Maggie}}} you doing OK?

I missed church yesterday. I was just so tuckered out, I slept in late. Shame on me. But when I finally got out of bed, I helped hubby put another coat of stain on the deck. Then I sort of relaxed most of the afternoon. We even went for a boat ride. Then I made supper, cleanned up, and started on them apples again. Hubby helped me, and we got a batch of apple slices made.
Sat. morning I got to attend a bridal shower. In honor of my nephew and his soon to be wife. Katie even came along with me. It was a nice shower. This is Pam's oldest son, who will be married Oct. 30th in Mexico.
Then her oldest daughter, will be married June 6th, of next year. My daughter will be married the following week on June 14th. Then it's back to Pams family...her youngest daughter will be married in July. That's alot of weddings for the both of us.

Wow, Barb -- That IS a lot of weddings! Poor Pam! It's a shame she couldn't talk her daughters into having double weddings -- sure don't hear of those anymore, but they used to be quite the thing. Sure would cut down on expenses.

I got back from the gym in time to get my shower before Garrett came, tho I was still drying my hair when he little face peeped around the bathroom door . . . Bill had greeted him & his daddy and led him to me. Now Garrett & I have been 'playing dominoes' . . . I bought him a set of double sixes to play with last week and we hadn't opened them yet. He had quite a time inspecting each one then handing it to me to set up so we could then knock them all down . . what a racket!! And we've already lost one . . . guess it has to be under the sofa, tho I looked once already. I'll move it out in a bit and look better. Now I've put him in bed for a bit of a rest. He is really getting tired lately, and I've decided he needs to rest maybe before and after school.

Good morning ladies! I made it through the night and the breathing is much calmer because of the heavy meds. Today my Mom will see her doc at noon to see if she's got pneumonia and at 4:20 my doc will x-ray me again at his office and I'll find out what I really have or don't have.
My hubby is going to drive us to these appointments.

Can't wait to go apple picking and make some applesauce to can. Are they your own apples? I'm attempting to start an orchard here. I have enough land for a small one. I'm thinking of trying to freeze or can apple slices already seasoned for pie. I have a recipe for it. Do you do that?

The weather is so beautiful this fall and the foliage is so crisp and colorful. I'm hoping my oldest daughter will get a lot of great photos of it. She's a great artist and photographer. The other day she received a surprise from her correspondence art school. She received a certificate for never getting less than an A minus and they said she's one of their top students! I am very proud of her! This school has produced many famous artists including Charles Schulz of Peanuts fame. He even taught there. My daughter already does a lot of work for the two churches we attend, but mostly for the big pentecostal church. She wants to be an artist and a pastor. (Have I said this already awhile back?) If I repeat myself blame the meds.....they are making me a bit hyper and even a bit loopey.....

I'll stop in later and let you know what the doc said. I hope you all have a super day! Blessings!

Leah,
Yes..Pam tried to talk her daughters into a double wedding. But they both wanted their own special day I guess. My daughters sister-in-laws got married last year in a double wedding. On the shores of Florida. Guess it was really nice.

Momma-mo,
hope all turns out alright with you and your mom.
I don't can anything anymore, except pickles. So much easer to freeze things. Yes..these are all my apples. Off of one tree. But the bussel my husband is bringing home tonight, is one we ordered a couple weeks ago. I did'ent think I had many good apples on my tree. I could'ent tell him I did'ent want them afterall. He was nice enough to save them for us. It's a co-worker of my husbands. I make the applesauce out of the blemished apples, and the apple slices out of the good, big ones. Yes, I have a recipe that I "coat" the apples in before I freeze them. Then I can use them for apple pie of whatever.
Well I have three kettles ready to be put through the food mill and two sink full of apples ready to be cooked again

Oh yes! Much better than Saturday night when, every time I got up to the washroom, someone was having a shower (we had 7 overnight guests for the weekend). In fact, I had 6 hours of uninterupted sleep, which was marvellous.

{{{Maggie}}} you doing OK?

Yeah, I think so. My son told me some horrible things Saturday evening (you can read about it in my thread) and it really stressed me but Sunday morning one of the church's prayer leaders spent some time talking, listening and praying with/for me. It was good. My church has been really wonderful. I've been sending out an e-mail to a few people close to me--online and local friends--plus the person who's in charge of the church's prayer chain. There are a LOT of people on that prayer chain and several either talked to/hugged me yesterday at church or sent me an e-mail to encourage me. I'm new there, so it's nice to have people caring and connecting.

This is Pam's oldest son, who will be married Oct. 30th in Mexico.

Yikes! That sounds like a nightmare, so many weddings so close together! I remember the year all four of my sons had serious girlfriends and I began to wonder if we'd have four weddings in one summer.

Momma Mo, I'm glad your breathing is calmer. That's good news.

Someone yesterday was asking folks about church because she missed church. I went to church! My son had my car all weekend (and today too) to transport his guests, so dh drove me to church. But in order to do that and get to his own church on time, he dropped me off half an hour early. I figured I could go into the restaurant of the sleaze-bag hotel next door and have breakfast and tea. I thought I saw a sign last week that said it opens at 7:00 a.m. Guess someone slept in. That was okay though. I just sat on the steps of the church and did some writing. When the first of the prayer team arrived and saw me sitting there, they were very upset that I hadn't been able to get inside. I reassured them that I didn't even try and was quite happy on the steps.

I've been attending the pre-service prayer meeting each week. It starts 45 minutes before the service and I LOVE it! There's usually about a dozen in attendance, plus at least one of the pastors. It was after the prayer meeting that the one woman spent some time with me, bless her!

Church was a bit different yesterday. The pastor preached on the importance of building bridges between the two parts of our church--those from the middle class suburbs and those from the streets and impoverished community. He was speaking to both groups. There are some from both sides that mix with the other, but not everyone is comfortable doing so--and that discomfort is with both groups, not just suburbanites.

After the service we had a barbecue and each table had to have a mix of people from both groups. It was good, even if it was chaotic and noisy. I had a good chat with an elderly native man beside me.

So church was good, but long, given that I got there early and stayed for the lunch. I got to visit my son for a bit, travelling by bus (which I rarely do), and then got a ride home.

Well, my mom has bronchitis and I have pneumonia for sure. Turned out the radiologist at the hospital had even put a note on my x-rays that I had pneumonia, but the ER physician said I didn't and that I just had bronchitis! I'm like really drugged up now. Can't wait till all of these extra meds run out and I can feel human again! G-night all and God Bless!

Good grief! Has the ER doctor got a thing against diagnosing pneumonia? That's ridiculous! Good thing you knew enough to double check with your own doctor.

I can't sleep. Sigh.

Good Tues. Morning Everyone

Maggie,
Hope you got some sleep last night. I had weird dreams all night. But I slept pretty good otherwise.
Your Sunday sounded like a good time.

{{Momma-mo}} and {{Momma-mo's mom}}
Hope you are both on the mend to good health, now that the diagnosing is correct. I had bronchitis one winter. Was sick for a good week. Ugh

My neice is gonna come over this Friday, and take some of these apples off my hands. I ran out of freezer containers, and can no longer make anymore applesauce. What a sweetheart. I will show her how to make it, and borrow her my food mill even. Just hate to throw them away when they are so good. Today I will make some apple slices to freeze. I use freezer bags for them.

Well gotta go to the meat market to pick-up our pork............

Good morning, Barb. I hate those nights of weird dreams. I had a doozy the other night . . sheesh.

It's a nice cool morning again -- 64 degrees, tho I did turn the a/c back on yesterday simply because it was too close & sticky to get anything done in the house without it. This morning I have a couple of doors open letting in some of that cool, fresh air. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE autumn??

Momma-Mo, that is awful that the ER doctor didn't find the pneumonia even after the radiologist did . . . I'm sur glad your doctor did, and has you under proper treatment. I will pray you and your mom both recover quickly. It's great that your daughter is helping out so well. She deserves a big, big hug

Maggie, I see you were up during the night . . I hope you finally got to sleep and are resting well right now. I had a crazy night too, then overslept this morning. Barely had time to get dressed & brush my teeth before Garrett got here.

I have a funeral dinner to get ready for -- need to make something to take, then as soon as Garrett gets on the bus, I'll leave to go to the church & start preparing things down there. Hopefully, there will be a couple of other ladies to help, but we have ladies out of town, ladies working at their volunteer jobs, etc., so we'll see. Anyway, I've got instructions to put a potato casseole in oven, then go pick up the chicken at the local grocers at 12:30 . . . . guess I really need to get started.

Leah,
Sounds like you will be busy this afternoon.
I'm still on these apples
Right now I am makeing apple slices. Have a bussel here to do. Only have four bags done so far.. Altho I am gonna save some for eating. They are very good ones. And their is a recipe me and Brandi want to make useing the whole apple. Hubby bought them from a co-worker.
My poor finger nails are so brown underneath the nail. I had to put dark fingernail polish on them. From ALL these apples
It's a good thing I don't have to pay for my manicures.

Got to see my two granddaughters this morning. Amanda had to come over here and pick up her pork. Emma seems bigger every time I see her. Lily still is'ent talking. Don't children talk up a storm when they are two years old? Isabelle sure does. She will say mamma and da-da. She says Papa for grandpa. Guess she even said Emma once. So there are a few words she says. Howie and Amanda are not to concerned tho. They just think when she starts talking they won't beable to shut her up. LOL
She had to show me her "bo-bo" Guess she fell last night and got a bloddy lip out of it. I kissed it away for her

The end of the summer colds have hit our area now also. I have two daycare kids that have cold's, and Isabelle has one also. My husbands is almost gone. I have been lucky so far...but I might just catch one before it's all over. Hope not tho.

Well back to these apples

Hi you all.

Lots of things going on in my life right now but thought I'll pop in and say hi.

Maggie, I am praying for you. You too Mo.

Sounds like you will be making a bunch of pies this winter, Barb. Perhaps even an applesauce cake? Yummy.

Maggie stress is so bad for me right now I can feel the pressure behind my eyes and this morning I woke up and the whites were pink. I know it's because of the stress because I can feel the pressure.

Praying Maggie.

Saturday we went and picked pears off the neighbor ladies tree. Apparently she'd had all she wanted. Yesterday I finally got some pear crisp made from those. Now I have a much more manageable amount. Saturday my daughter had gotten the apples the neighbor had given us made into apple crisp. It'd be nice to have enough apples for applesauce too.

Just the usual stuff going on here. I finally made it to story time with R yesterday. And today I had Bible study. I'm kind of glad I can stay home all day (till evening) tomorrow. Except I have to take at least one child to school early for See You At The Pole. Where the school kids pray around the flag pole before school.

Thanks for praying, friends. I am worn out and run down. I came home from packing at ds3's apartment so sore and so exhausted that I plopped into a chair with my feet up and didn't move until I went to bed at 7:30. Dh and some friends of his spent the evening moving all the stuff that's been packed so far so he's tired and exhausted too. Because I went to bed so early, I woke up at 4:30. I should have been able to sleep some more but my mind was buzzing with all the stuff going on. I'm tired.

Barb, you need to buy yourself an apple peeling "machine." Ds3 has one and he loves it. He uses it for potatoes and other things too. It's one of those things he doesn't want to go to my mom's garage--though I think I forgot to tell that to ds1 who was packing up the kitchen stuff.

Dee! Fresh pears off the tree? Wow! Lucky you!

Good Wen. Morning Everyone

Ginny,
Praying for the stess levels to go down for you. {{Ginny}}

Dee,
Pears sound so yummy. I was just talking to mu hubby about when I used to can pears and freeze peaches. Hav'ent done that in a while.

Maggie,
My neighbor borrowed me her apple pealer yesterday. But I could'ent figure it out
Hubby read the instuction booklet last night, and has it all figured out now. So I will attempt it this morning. If I can't figure it out it's back to doing it by hand.

My Katie called my yesterday. Seems she wants to go wedding dress shopping this Sat. and wants me and Brandi to come along. So I guess I'm going. Will make Brandi drive tho. I'm not good at driveing in a big city
Sort of excited about going tho. Last time I did this was with Brandi, eight years ago.She has set her limits and will not spend over $600 for a dress. Goodness..I paid $200 for my dress. Granted, that was 30 some years ago tho. And there it sits..up in a box, in my attic. Good thing my daughters buy their own wedding dressed

Yes, I enjoy the pears!

We have one or two apple peelers that my MIL gave me, but I can't get them to work either. A lady I'm in the nursery with once a month said that she'd help me with them next time if I brought them. So I need to get them out and see if I can figure it out first.

Wedding dress shopping sounds fun Barb, especially if someone else is buying! I hope she can find a bargain.

Good morning, Maggie, Barb & Dee . . . good to see you in here so early, Dee!

{{{{{{{{{Ginny}}}}}}}}} I do hope the stress eases for you soon.

Barb, that DOES sound like fun, and yes, it would be much more so if you're not paying for the dress . . . Melissa paid for hers also. She didn't invite me along to buy it, but she seriously should have . . ok, that's a whole other story.

Maggie, I hope you can get some more rest today.

Momma-Mo, I hope you all are feeling better.

It's another cool morning here -- 62 degrees. I love these mornings even tho the days are getting a bit warm & sticky to do completely without the a/c.

Garrett is here and has nearly emptied his toy box already . . . although I've just looked again, and it seems he's picked up most of it and put it back in the box

I truly wish I could spend today at home, but I have that OA meeting, so guess I'll be going to that. I've ran around every day this week, and I'm really getting tired. Tomorrow I will go in and help clean the church, then try to go to the gym either before or after. Friday, I don't intend to leave the house.

Praying you have a good day today, Ginny.

Leah, I'm moving earlier since I had to have my daughter to school by seven this morning. I'm not a morning person, so while I may be on here reading even, I don't necessarily post first thing.

Good morning ladies!!!! It's a beautiful autumn day in New England! So pretty out! Getting colder though. Almost time to put out the bear bait, um...I mean bird feeders.

I'm trying to look at the bright side of having pneumonia. (Okay, so, I have to invent a bright side..... ) Usually my lung doc puts me into the hospital to monitor me, but he said their were some nasty virus' going around the hospital and I'd be safer at home. Sooooo....since I have to be quiet and still for a couple of weeks...I can load up e-Bay for Christmas and put a dent in the snail mail pen-pal letters I owe. We're going to ease back into schooling. Since everyone still feels icky I'll only do a little with them.

Pears and apples! Yum! Sounds wonderful. My uncle has been bringing peaches from his trees to share with us. It's a blessing! Today I hope to freeze my excess tomatoes. Too sick to do canning yet. Too much work. With the freezing I use my foodsaver.

Maggie, I share your lack of sleep so I sympathize with you. Hope you get some good sound sleep soon.

I hope everyone has a great day. I'll check back later. Hugs and to all!

Maggie,
I also neglected to give you a hug. {{Maggie}}
I read your thread, and sent up a prayer for the whole family.

Dee,
Hope you figure out them apple peelers. I hav'ent started mine yet today. Decided to get some neglected household chores done this morning.

Leah,
And a good morning to you also. (we still have a few minutes till it's noon)
Our temps right now are 75 degree's. Have all the windows open.

Momma-mo,

I am blessed to have you all as friends. Thanks for the hugs and prayers.

Maggie and Momma Mo I am praying for you.

I hate shopping for clothes so am glad it is you going and not me Barb. For some reason though I love garage sale shopping.

Dee, I can never have pears around here. They always go bad on me before I eat them. Peaches too. The only fruit I usually have are apples, bananas, oranges and grapes. Hope you get the peeler figured out. You too, Barb.

It's hard seeing people who know about your work situation people who also work at the same place you do but perhaps at another location. I refuse to say anything bad at work or to say something that would be construed as gossip so am doing my best to be cheerful, upbeat, kind and thoughtful. And am praying God will remove any rancor I may feel from my heart. What helps is I know without any doubt the Lord placed me in this trial and wants me to go through it.

Take care,
Ginny

The day has been rough with the breathing. But I did get some things done. My daughter is cleaning the kitchen for me. Right now she's baking cookies for a charity bake sale.

Hope you all have a good night....and everyone sleeps well!

God bless!
