1Co 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
1Co 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
1Co 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
1Co 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
1Co 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Do you mean the United States? There is no country called "America".

I believe its The United States of America...

That's right. The United States is only a part of "America" .

The name of the country is, The United States of America...

I guess the point he is trying to make is that..if the US was in Europe and was called United States of Europe..he was not Europe because Europe is a continent. Every European country is European, but 1 country is not Europe.

Now the question that I have is that when they named US the enfasis was in the "United States" or "of America"?

I suppose at that time the Americas and American continent was named already.

I do know the attachments by calling USA America but "we" are all Americans because we share the Continent. We call US the US in our mother tongues..and some do call US North Americans..although the Canadians and Mexicans are North Americans also, it is easier to apply North Americans to USA because they carry America in its name.

Is not a situation of disrespect or bullyng USA but acknowledgment of reality, that WE share a Continent Called America and "we" are proud of it, at least most of us are.

Why don't we just go ahead and call ourselves Earthlings. Some people wont be happy until our nationality is reduced to just that general anyway. What I'm gathering from this thread is about what I expected - being an American means absolutely nothing anymore. We can't even agree on what it covers and most can't even comprehend that it once meant something.

Just imagine what all the Native peoples of the whole continent feel called/labeled "Amerindians", "Indians" and etc..well, many tribes still do not know what we call them because they do not speak the majority of their nation mother tongues anyways. Plus they do have their identities settled.

I do think that we humans have steady throu history, reducing many "nationalities" as nothing, to extinction.

I do think all Peoples, the ones still around do deserve respect. And when one claim the past they are remembering their forefathers and many in this country their histories and heritages go way past 200, 300, 400, 600 years etc may not e written in the Constitution but in rocks and nature findings.

Hopefuly by me mentioning how old this land is people will not get "angry"as most of the many nations in this continent are all young nations from the "New World". The Museun of the American Indian in DC is very rich in history indeed.

Being an American means that 30% of you worship your stomach and food, 2% worship Jesus Christ, and all the rest worship some form of world political dominance, money or 'stuff', drug, and/or self.
