ORIGINAL: joy2give2u I was wondering how many people stop posting a thought in order to take the time to write, rewrite, and edit it before posting? I do that a lot, sometimes even with the simplest little nothing replies.

Maybe you should reconsider posting? LOL here or everywhere??????...... Sometimes I will go back and read a post I wrote a few month prior and I think........wow the people on cw must think I am really uneducated......... I am usually posting while doing other things so my thoughts are not always on what my fingers are typing......leading to many, many typos and other errors........I am not as unintelligent as I appear on here or at least I don't think I am LOL No, we do not! Actually, I haven't noticed your typos or errors - mostly I'm reading the content which often makes me think or shed's light on something that I need to pray about. quote:
Speaking of post you almost don't post.......Someone I know types her post offline first so that she can do spell check and edit it...........she wants to make sure her post reflect her clearly........ I was wondering how many people stop posting a thought in order to take the time to write, rewrite, and edit it before posting? I am forever editing what I've written, because if I just post the first thing that comes out of my fingers, it can be confusing or it might not accurately capture what I was trying to say. Almost all of my posts have an "edited" timestamp because I'll go back a little later - reread and edit it because I've found that my thought wasn't clear. And to answer the OP's question: Yes, many times I've not posted things or have not started threads. I'll pray about things often. There are some things that I wouldn't post because I know it would be misunderstood.

Have I ever ALMOST posted something? Yes; numerous times; and that applies to both serious and fun posts. Sometimes I have considered posting something; but that's as far as it went - many of my "posts" never even get typed. Sometimes I have typed a post only to cancel it - either because there was a check in my Spirit, or because I realized I had gone off-topic somewhere in that post, or even for various other reasons. Sometimes, after typing a post, I have canceled it simply because the very act of typing it was sufficient; as in typing the post helped me clarify something in my thoughts. And while the times when I never actually type a post (but think one) are intentional (regarding choosing to not type it), the times that I type a post only to cancel it are never intentional. It just simply happens. quote:
ORIGINAL: joy2give2u I was wondering how many people stop posting a thought in order to take the time to write, rewrite, and edit it before posting? Any serious post - yes, practically all the time. It can take me literlly hours to write a serious post because of rewriting and editing; not to mention the thought that goes into such a post. As to frivolous fun posts? No, I rarely rewrite those; those are "in the momentum" type posts where people are just goofing around.

Interesting sharon marie........... I don't even read my post, both serious and light hearted, until after I have submitted them and they appear on the board........then if I have time I will reread it and make some corrections.........If I spent time writing, editing and rewriting a post I would never post. Like you there are many thoughts I have or post I think about in my mind which are never typed...........mostly because by the time I am on a computer some new thought is in my mind. Most often the post I do not post are because, and please brace yourself because this will sound mean, I just don't really care enough. If I cared enough I would post despite the backlash......... The other times I don't post are when a golden nugget is still to close to my heart to let others try to turn it into coal..........so I hang unto it unless God makes it very clear he wants me to share........and when he does he is also the one who protect the gold from those who's goal is to rob it.

I ramble a lot and have had to kill more than one long-winded post.

ORIGINAL: ebony101 Hmmm, this has never happened as to opening a thread, but it has happened a few times in wanting to post my response to a topic under discussion in a thread. Before I open a thread I think about it a lot, so that I can post it "accurately" - using the correct words, etc. As a matter of fact, I want to open a thread right now, I've been pondering on it whole day. As soon as I've gotten it accurately thought out in my mind, I'll open it. I might not think about it as much as you, but there's Lurkers out there that see where you are, and sure enough, while you are creating your masterpiece, one or two people post before you and in ordinary language, guess what? Right. They Steal your words and post exactly what you were going to say. Pluse, you look for your thread to follow Jack or Jill's, and instead, it follows two people you've never read before.
