My DS used to beg for broccoli. He and I are the only ones who will eat it. We were at the grocery store one week when he was about 3 and I bought a head (enough for the two of us and he ate 95% of it). He was standing there saying "More brocci mommy, more brocci" THere little old ladies were getting a kick out of it.
One morning when he had preschool he didn't want cereal or any traditional breakfast foods. I finally got him to agree to raw brocci. We got to school and it was time to go in and he was still eating it. I had to have his teacher tell him that brocci couldn't come to preschool and had to go home with me.

I like Brussels sprouts, but not liver and onions. I used to love liver until I got married and cooked it for the first time. I never could stomach it after that.

NotaLisa, that is incredibly irritating. I'm sure it was an honest mistake, but people don't realize how these little errors can have a ripple effect. I would be willing to bet the office isn't going to reimburse you for those overdraft charges.

I might can get the bank to reverse at least one, I had a similar problem once and they did it then. I also have a co-worker whose grandmother is one of the branch managers, she may be able to help me.

Ouch Notalisa- that reeks. (I see your screen name and think Mona Lisa... not so much the painting, but the song)
So far my computer is behaving after the moving of copious photo files and purging of unused programs- I am gong a step further and plugging up the 100 gig external again and putting all my text stuff and things associated with them on it. I don't want to give Kirby a stroke when I load Adobe CS3 on 'em.
Latest Honey Update: I spent 5 hours with my Honey yesterday. We went to a park and out to dinner and all- It was a wonderful visit but is driving home the idea that he will soon be across a couple of oceans. Why'd I have to be such a high maintenance wife. Think I can get a flight over and sneak into his room once or twice a month? Too risky you say? Kill Joys

I feel behind. TL is taking Apologia Biology this year, but unless she powers through the Pre-Algebra, she will not be ready for Chemistry next year. I thought that she could take the Human Body course (aka Advanced Biology), but no such luck. According to the web-site, it states that the prerequisites are Biology and Chemistry. Drats. I feel upset by this news.

You're her mother. What do you say? With the right student, Apologia Biology may be enough. Is she that interested in Biology, to be taking an advanced biology course? If she has the interest and basic biology understanding, I'd say go for it. Chemistry doesn't seem super important for biology, from what I remember of both.

According to the Apologia web-site, the student must take both Biology and Chemistry before taking Advanced Biology. I think there must be chemistry in the Advanced Biology text and she will not be ready for that. She really enjoys science and I have certain views about science and believe that is something very important for my children to take. I understand not everyone feels that way, but it's one of my "issues."

I'm surprised you can do chemistry without Algebra. When I was in school Algebra II was a pre/co-requisite for Chemistry for balancing equationis and stuff like that.

You can't. That's the problem. She will not have completed Algebra 1 by the fall, so she cannot take chemistry.

She started pre-algebra yesterday. I have no idea how long it will take her to finish it. She struggled with math for several years and then suddenly she got it and it has been easy for her ever since. Hopefully she is now going to be fine and will breeze through this as she did through the last book.

Cynthia - I'm wondering if pre-algebra is even necessary. If she's catching on to math now, she may be able to go straight to Algebra I. Of course, it sounds like you already have the pre-algebra, so that may not be cost effective. Just a thought though!

You might see if you can look at the text and see just what is included from Chemistry. I am taking college level Anatomy and Physiology, and while we did use some Chem in the first chapters there is not enough that a person couldn't just learn it as they went. It certainly isn't stoichiometry or anything.
ETA- Is she taking the courses online?
