Oh yeah and you should have seen the look on her face when I suggested she may have ten or even eleven children. hehe Who knows what the Lord has in store for her.

Cynthia, was she the one who decided where things should go? If she didn't, she might be resisting using the system. If she is a perfectionist, she may not think the system works but doesn't know what else to do.

I struggle with tidiness, and actually, may aim isn't tidy but comfortable and functional. It has taken years to get to the point I am at now, which is still not good enough for most, I'd wager. One book that really helped me was Messie No More. That book helps a person get to the root of being messy. TL is young for that, as in, a lot of my problems stemmed from having an alcoholic mother and dysfunctional household, but I don't think TL has had to deal with that, and yet she is struggling. Perhaps it's like having a parent try to control what you eat--you end up eating rebelliously.

Well, that's all stream-of-thought writing and may not be applicable, lol.

Jennifer,
I don't know. She mostly has "organized" it herself, but she doesn't follow through. Her main problem is that she doesn't clean up something when she is done with it. She leaves it lying where it is and goes onto the next thing. Before you know it, just about everything she owns is in the middle of the floor. If she would simply put something away when she is done, she'd be fine.

How about a middle ground? Twice a day she spends 15 minutes picking up. That way she can maintain a certain level of being relaxed, but doesn't get overwhelmed by EVERYTHING being in the wrong spot...in which case a person like me just can't see where to begin.

Well I think I'm going to institute a clean up your room schedule time for all of us. We can spend ten or fifteen minutes and that should help us keep the bedrooms tidy. If we do this once after school and once as part of the bedtime routine it should help.

Dh computer is really going up in price to get it fixed!!! I wish we would of just gotten him a new one from the beginning.

I saw two chairs that someone is selling for 40.00 each. They were nice, rocker/swivel living room chairs. They would sure look better than what we have... but I still don't have the money:( oh well.

We are having Gourmet Chicken Garlic pizza for dinner. I am telling you this because if I post in the dinner thread in the Home and Garden folder, someone will tell me it isn't healthy enough.

We took it pretty easy today-just handwriting and math. My shoulder is hurting enough to tire me out and Nate's been working hard lately anyway.

Annie, I know how you feel. My couches are falling apart. The cushions are coming apart and there are wires poking out the back. I also need a new bed, desperately. I am trying to be patient.

Speaking of patient, business has closed for the week and I still have no job.

((((Jen)))))

Cynthia & Zoe- thanks for the props re the photo in my avatar. I was just snapping away for fun. The image larger can be found HERE the image without cropping and text can be found HERE It was originally in color and that can be seen after about a gazillion photos of the boys HERE

Forgive me if I already said this or posted the links before. I am a bit scattered right now.

We just got back from visiting Jerry. We spent 3 hours with him at a Chinese place and then the Post eXchange(PX). Not a lot of time or occasion to do more than hold his hand. he had stuff he needed to buy at the PX. I convinced him he ought to go ahead and get the 2 sets of sheets and blankets he needs now since he has only one light blanket and it has turned off a bit cooler down there the last few nights.

Anyway- it felt like 15 minutes grand total. It took all I had in me not to absolutely bawl when I had to leave. Then the 1.5 hour drive home....... That was HARD. It looks like out next visit may not be until October 13th. He is warm now. He has his own pillow. He has his own computer. He knows I will drop everything and drive 3 hours round trip just to come and see him for 15 minutes if that's all I can get even if it means all I can do is sit across a table in the PX and stare at him. I took my camera thinking I'd take some photos but in the end I never even touched the camera bag. Thing is that he looked really down himself. He is staying busy. That is good. I am feeling weepy and emotional so I am gonna log off now and go pray and have a good cry with my Jesus.

((((Ez)))) - praying for you & Jerry too!

I was up early this morning & finally just got out of bed. The kids are up now, so I'm going to get off here & go have some coffee! My parents will be calling at 9! My allergies have been bad lately too! We gave up on sleeping with the windows open years ago! We'd love to do it, but we all wake up coughing, sneezing & generally feeling yucky - so it's just not worth it!

Today feels like a great day!! maybe it is because we have the day off of school... but still have a busy day! In another week, I am declaring a family holiday:) I think we could use a day off.... I know I can. I have been staying on track with the extra curricular activities, school with everyone, gardening, and appointments coming out our ears.... but I think it is catching up to me now and now I want a break. So, our "holiday" will be anticipated! I just realized I need to be thinking of testing the kids again to fulfill the law. It seems like I just did this! Time goes by so fast. I won't worry about it until winter though, maybe right after Christmas.

((((((Ez))))) many hugs to you. I pray that your cry with Jesus helped give you peace, comfort, and uplifting.

We are having Caleb's b'day party today. He wanted a s'mores cake and a space pirate theme. I came up with a way to do a cake that will tastes a lot like s'mores, and David is painting a space pirate poster. I think that they have taken to trying o stump me with their cake and theme ideas. I have been up to the challenge so far! This year we have cut down to giving each child only 2 presents from us.... and some of them we don't even have spend money for. Things are tight! It is ok though because the kids are really enjoying because the kids are really enjoying their b'days.

I am finally starting to feel better. I have been under the weather so long now.

Thanks to all that prayed last night. I can tell you it really helped.

I am feeling better this morning. Jerry is at work making sure everyone has a current evaluation. The rest of his office is out at the M-16 range. He got out of the M16 range due to his being a 9mm kinda guy and having already qualified on the 9mm.

I am uninstalling a bunch of stuff from my computer that I have not used since it was put on the desktop in 2006. I was about to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 and thought about how slow Kirby was performing already so BYE BYE all that MS Suite stuff that came pre-installed and never got used.

I sure do hope it still works after all of this stuff goes away

Praying for ya and glad that you are feeling better!!!!

I haven't read all of the posts.
Well, guess what? We are going to move to a house we saw way before we rented the trailer.
It might sound stupid to move again BUT with winter coming on and the gas company announcing that they are going to raise natural gas prices 30%, I think we will save money. It's only gotten cold enough to forst so far, and that furnace is running almost continuously to keep it warm. Dh says it's because the trailer only has walls about 2 inches thick. There are other reasons, too. If dd needs us to babysit, the kids can ride the school bus to our house because we will be moving into their district. Dh doesn't feel comfortable living in the town we just moved into...It's kind of a strange town anyhow.
Ds wants to join CAP so if he does, we will be saving a little bit of money on gas. It's also only about 2 miles from a church we used to attend. BTW, this time we are renting a Uhaul, instead of trying to move everything with the pickup or motor home.

I am having a lazy day thank to Aunt Flo who decided to visit. SHe is making me exhausted.

Dh and Ds went back to Best Buy. Dh picked up his computer last night, thinking he could fix it, decided he couldn't, so he is bringing it back in. He is so "lost" without his pride and joy.
Dh wanted me to go with him.... but I am just not feeling up to it. I thought he'd be mad at me, but I really don't feel like going anywhere today.

Good luck with the move Judi. It does sound like it will be a bood one. It is a lot of work to move, so I don't envy that part of it. Have you started packing? When is your moving date?

Thanks Cynthia.

I ran into a guy in walmart that was playing with one of those huge halloween spiders. The kids all talked about how that'd be something to grab and send to Jerry once he is over there so he can have a pet Camel spider. The guy on the row said his son was a marine and 20 years old. I told him my husband was just finishing her 20th year active duty. We chatted for a few minutes and he got around to asking what Honey did. I told him that he was the guy that made sure folks were accounted for and got paid. He said "Oh then he will be safe." I kinda laughed and said "SAFER than the guys on the front line but still in iraq." he agreed.

Sigh. I need to print off a photo to carry with me for those moments. The dad had a photo of his son. I have never carried photos before the past few years because "they" have always been more or less with me.

I am still goofing round with my computers guts. I have deleted a bunch of stuff and am moving ALL my photos (even avatars) onto the external Hard Drive. I only had 11gig of memory left on the hard drive of kirby. the one folder I keep all the odds and ends in took 10 minutes to move. Now to check and make sure it all went, then delete the stuff off Kirby.

ETA the one folder I mentioned contained 12 Gigs of photo stuff............
ETA AGAIN! another 6 gig of photo stuff located....

I am seeing a pattern here folks. the computer has a 160 gig hard drive. the external is 750gig. I have another 100 gig external here too. I think I am safe but I am finding I am a bit compulsive about snapping photos once I get going.

{{{Ez}}} We also sincerely appreciate Jerry's and your family's sacrifice to keep the rest of us safe. We will keep you all in our prayers.

My finger is getting worse instead of better, so I guess I will have to carve out the time to deal with it. If it weren't Saturday I'd just run down the hall and see if I can get someone to look at it, but the ER's gonna be packed and they really don't need a non-emergency to deal with.

I dread my basement. But I decided if I spent a few minutes here and there, I could make some progress down there. So when I put a load of laundry in, I went over to see what could be seen. I can't find some of the shelves for the bookcases, and we still have boxes of books to unpack. I decided Brandon's 'space' was the place to begin. He was using TWO desks, a bookcase and a bunch of floor space! Nate and I got most of his stuff into a box and onto the smaller desk. A lot of it is junk but I didn't want to toss it because I can't tell what he cares about and what he doesn't. So, anyway, that's some progress.

It's windy and wet. The family behind me has been re-roofing and they are finishing up today. They keep losing giant pieces of aluminum! Rather scary.

We too may be getting a new laptop. I can't post on the forums with that one anymore and dh was looking up the lifespan of that computer.

I am typing on one of the other ones. Keep making lots of mistakes too since I'm not used to the keyboard.

I liked the photos too Ez.

Glad Ellie is feeling better.

Last night turned into a night of revelations for me. The new tam leader spoke with me and told me she did want my help. I thanked her for telling me that since I was unsure about that now.

She also told me that the reason they went to her was because they wanted there to be one clear leader. Some of you may recall that that is not what was told to me. They told me one thing, told her something else. And I think that was a poor excuse since the dance leader and I had been co leaders for many months now and it's not a problem in dance.

I also discovered that the rabbi's wife really liked the song we are now doing for Sukkot. Apparently she really wanted that song. This was news to me. She never said anything to me about choosing a different song or asking me if I would change my song for hers. I would have done that had I been asked!

C did tell me that anything I would do for tambourine would have to be approved by he board. So I don't have to go through the board for things for dance ,but I do for tam. If it was just me suggesting things, I bet they would be rejected, but if C suggests it, I have a feeling it will be okay.

She also asked me to pick a Hanukkah song. I told her I would be happy to choose one, but I do not want to put the time and effort into choosing a song if they already have a song in mind. I did not add that I do not want a repeat of what just happened with Sukkot.

C then told me she was trying to get the congregation to buy tambourine manuals so that if she or I left, someone else could come in and continue on with tambourine. I told her I already had manuals. I explained that when I thought I was leader I went ahead and got them, not expecting reimbursement from the congregation thus giving me the option of taking them with me should the Lord call me somewhere else.

I am sure that the fact that I already have the manuals will get back to the rabbi and his wife and I will not have to say anything. C I bet will do it and it is better that the news comes from her anyway, since she is their hand picked person.

If they want to learn new tam patterns there will be no choice but to come to me as I have the manuals and I will not be giving them to the congregation.

So I had a mix of both good and bad news last night.

I over heard one of the conversations one of the girls was having with our former dance leader who is back waiting for visas to be approved before they start their France stint.

Apparently this girl's teacher is open to having us come and dance at the school. The program would be in November, when our leader won't be here. This girl had been talking with another dancer (A) about it. L did tell this girl that she needs to speak with me about it since I am the dance leader and I am the one that would need to coordinate things.

The girl never approached me last night. I don't know why she was talking to A since A is not the leader and is also new to the Feast Days. A is a a good dancer but since she has no authority to say what we will or will not do, I have no idea why the girl was talking to her.

It would have to be approved by he board anyway before we could do something like that.

I believe I now have a better understanding of why some people left in the past.

And our former tam leader has indeed been attending the other congregation and has been doing so since she left us. I'm not surprised but some other people were disappointed since they asked her where she was going and she outright lied to them.

They feel she was following her friends and how that was wrong, but I do understand the pull. I remained faithful after the split and all my friendships left and I was not rewarded for that.

I also wonder if I had not let C do the tam dance if I would still be the tam leader. Since I wanted to encourage her and told her to go ahead and teach the Yom Teruah dance, that was the excuse needed to oust me.

No good deed goes unpunished, I guess.

I will always be an outsider in this group I think and I don't see that changing. I will continue with some of the fellowship changes I have already made and that should help my state of mind.

ezri--I haven't a clue what you just said, but it sounds like you've been busy!

Cindy--get your finger looked at already!

Jennifer--yah, the basement is a scary place. I tend to put all the "don't know what to do with" stuff down there, meaning to deal with it "later". Except "later" never seems to come... That is one good thing about moving--you have to deal with it!

Homegrown--Auntie Flo certainly did me in this month. I never get that bad of cramps, but I certainly did this time. Yuck!!!

I felt much better this morning. I got up and went for a run. My last "long" run before my 'thon. 12miles. Next weekend is only 8miles. It was a decent run, although I learned yet again that it is not a good idea to eat lots of pineapple (ie half of a fresh one!) the day before a run. Luckily there are port-a-johns along the bikepath...

Home long enough to shower, then off to work. Only to discover once I got to work that my dog had a huge sore on her back. Another handler and I decided it was okay for her to work, just keep resident focused on dog's face/shoulders and not her butt. When we got home I washed the area. It's a ruptured abcess, one that she's had before. Sigh... it will be off to the vet on Monday morning, most likely for surgery.
