And while all of that is true - many of us don't have time to go over there and just sit at different tables and "chat" it up on the various threads. I stopped all subscriptions in there (except for one). I just don't have the time nor energy to try to keep up with all that banter.

It's great that others do - for me, I'll just say here and chat with those who choose to come to this table to talk. No hard feelings. Never have been; never will be.

When my life allows me time to "chat it up" elsewhere, then maybe I'll venture off that way - until then, I'm quite happy where I am.

Yep, me too. Watching all these dumb green leaves refuse to fall off the trees. I did get a loaf of pumpkin bread from some friends the other day.

There is a town in Kansas named Gas. Their watertower has "Gas Kan" on it.

LOL!! That's funny. And reminds me that I was going to post this the other day...

I had to take a different route to the main office the other day and saw a new road... Roach Run! I don't think I want to live on that street!

Wonder if they have trouble selling houses on that street?

Was the next street named Termite Terrace?

I don't remember, but it was clever, too.

Oh, I was thinking about you earlier, Gary. I found a recipe book that has recipes for all kinds of roadkill/wild game. They include rattlesnake, turtle, crow, etc.

You'll be fine - just talk to them like you're talking to your best friend.

You know, I heard somewhere that people would either rather go to the dentist than speak in front of people.

Okay - since Oct is generally the peak of fall colors - tell us about your area.

Mine - we don't see color until Feb!

Here in Nebraska it's turning! Snow is the talk of the town for next weekend

I should mention that people actually fear public speaking more than death, I just found that on the internet, but had heard that before also.

The local roadkill chef likes to make stews and chilies.

How is school going Michelle?

Hey, Onejohn, what's with the purple, sarcastic smiley??? I don't think I'd be a bad role model....for once, I can teach you how to make your post more understandable without needing translation. And another thing, I can teach you how to deal with Jack and Jill, and your hypothetical situation with the hypothetical girl. let's see. I'm sure there's a lot of things i can teach ya. So..get rid of that purple smiley or else, I'll use the green smiley every time I mention your name in my posts!

Yeah, I was being most rude getting caught up to things, and I know Lisa didn't promise me any pictures. That silemy *can't tpye-=98()* was for LIsa, oh woes me. Sniff sniff, boo hoo hoo.... honk!

Robb, you really are hilarious at times. I think I'll go build up my supermodel status over with the ban the poster above you crowd now. That should help my posting skills.

sniff

Think of a good opening joke...that's always a good ice breaker. Know your speech...not necessariyl word for word, but know the substance of the speech. And allow yourself to be nervous. That's ok. People know that you are, so why pretend that you're not. If you mess up, just be funny, you know, think of something quick to say to sort of let the audience know you're with them, and you know that you're messign up but you'll still keep going because you have a point to bring across.

I'm good in public speaking....as long as what I'm sayign has substance.

Yeah, but its the unbelievers who have more to fear though. Then there are those who think they are making the trip but the ladder that they are climbing is attached to the wrong building...

the beautiful green leaves cling on to the trees here in Tide Country. I suspect they'll go from green to down without a change in color at all. Anybody got leaf paints?

Also, what's a fine way to scare the prankster kiddies away from your house if you are not contributing to their tooth decay? Sit on a darkened porch and hear your chained dog bark at them all?

That reminds me last week, part of my speech was in Spanish. The guy that I was conversing with started ad libbing, but I had my Spanish written out what I would say. So I got caught not knowing what the Spanish words were, so I just spoke the words in English and kept on going.

As one who stutters, it makes me a little nervous, but I can get thru it. It helps knowing people in the audience.
