Trish, I don't go into Starbucks if I can help it. ha, ha

Aimee, on the other hand, seems to be in one a lot.

Been doing well. My son is taking piano lessons now, soon to surpass his dad in musical knowledge

Hi Trish!

Actually I've had a tough morning. There was a mishap involving last night's seminar and something happened this morning. Something was said that shouldn't have been said in front of other co-workers. I cried a little during our morning prayer- ofcourse a few noticed when eye were peeking . I'm a real sensitve person so I couldn't help it. Well, the person later apologized to both me and the other person that heard everything so it's all good now. I'm just actually tired because of it. It's right after lunch now and I'm just trying to make it through the rest of the day.

Well, he's really NOT a singer, but getting to be an excellent musician. He's planning on attending a music school and studying arranging and composing. He's more a writer than a performer.

Sorry to hear about your bad morning. Glad that everything is fine now. You work in a Christian office? Praying together? Wow, that's great.

Mornin Randy

Yeah, we have prayer and devotion on M/W/F. It can be challenging working in a minitry org. sometimes but it's so awesome to see what God is doing first-hand.

How's the family?

Trishy lounges on the sand and no one else is in sight- no one to drink her virgin strawberry daquiri with. She puts down her drink and decides to take a dip in the ocean. Careful not to float away she looks up into the sky at the beautiful clouds. All of a sudden, a voice is heard in the distance. Someone is calling her to come back ashore...

Hey Trishy and Trish!
I thought I would come to the beach this evening for a swim.
I've always wanted to go to Hawaii!

Well, I was born and raised on the island of Oahu. I don't have any brothers or sisters (kinda lonely sometimes). Both of my parents are not Christians. The family background is Buddist, being that both of them are Japanese. I became a Christian right after high school in '93. Yes, as you probably figured out, I'm single. I just made 31 in March.

Hey Trishy. Yeah, I've had a bit of time offline. Some completely unexpectedly. Oh well.

I've often wondered this of families who have religions other than Christianity in it. When you visit with your parents, are you expected to do things related to Buddhism? Do they defer to you, if they come to your home and, for example, say grace before a meal? Just curious.

Thanks for the quick bio Trishy! I will read your blog. I'm just now getting comfortable with the forums and have my own thread. Are you accepted by your family? I mean many Christians have "Christian" family who still do not have relationships or acceptance. We really do have to rely on our spritual bros and sises. I gotta go to Toys R Us to get a toy I promised for my DD as a reward.
Have a blessed weekend!
Lori

Hi Trish!

Well, I live in a studio right behind my parents so I see them all the time. They are not "practicing buddists" per se. My dad has his shrine in their house, which a lot of Japanese do. The shrine is really a family shrine. They put flowers and food on the shrine, etc... They don't go to a buddist church. It's more of a cultural thing. When I grew up and when we went to the buddist church to visit the ashes of family members, I remember hitting on the bell-like thing and putting the insence on. But I never knew what it was. I was a kid and just did it. They never expect me to do any of that stuff now. They know that I won't so they don't expect me to.

When we have had family get-togethers with others, we would pray. They don't object at all. My Aunt is Christian and some of my distant relatives are too. They have however come to my church when I invited them for Christmas, etc... English is my dad's second language so he really doesn't understand anything at all during service. My mom was born in Hawaii so she understands. This past Easter, my mom had to work but I didn't invite my dad to come to Easter service. I told God and myself that the next time I invite my dad to church, I would take him to a Japanese speaking service. We don't have one but I would take him to another church to visit so that he can understand at least.

Interesting huh Trish.

(((((LOFO)))))

Hiya! I have two blogs, but they are not on CW. I don't think I can post them openly so I'll send a note to you if ya like with the addresses. Yeah, my family is totally cool with my faith. I do have a hard time though spending time with them sometimes. There's that HUGE gap because of the way they are in the world. Know what I mean?

Awe...What kind of toys you thinking of?

Thanks for the explanation, Trishy. I often wonder how family members work their way around things like that. I'm glad they don't make you do it.

No worries...many people totally go by their CW name.

It is amazing that God plucked you out of a Buddist home and now you have opportunity to witness to family! Hard yes, but a glorious opp to get your family to Heaven. I'll pray for you.
Lori
P.S. I'm returning this ukelelee we used at the Humble in Spirit thread (Mike). I did not ask to borrow it as you were not at home. I just swiped it off your front porch. So please forgive my for my craziness, we were getting pretty giddy over there.

Well, it's another week. It's Monday morning here and I just got into work. I decided to have some iced green/white tea this morning. No umbrella today though. I ran out.

It's one of those mornings again- not wanting to come into work. Awe shucks. Please keep me in prayer everyone- that I remain patient and that I put God first always!

We are in the second week of our pulpit series on the doctrine of sin. Yesterday, we went over the 7 deadly sins. I gotta make sure I study up. It's so important. I get a heavy feeling when hearing about it but what an opportunity to look at myself and ask God for His help!

Trishy,
Is this you????
I'm so glad I returned it without you missing it. I really had a great weekend. How about yourself? My DH took my 2 boys on a trip so it was a Mommy/daughter weekend. Time to be gggiiiiiirrrrrrrllllllllly! I bought her one of those big heads where she can play with the doll's hair, learn to braid, and all that girly hair stuff. We also went to a girly play, the arts festival, and watched Princess Diaries.

I gotta go get some stuff done around here.
I have 2 hours before my boys get home from school.
And actually would you pray for my focus? I need to my mind all in focus for a "Faithful Homemakers" group I co-lead. Ohh- what a bad leader I am today- If they would see my house! I've been playing too much. Time to get to work!
Have a beautiful Monday in the Lord!

Oh Lori now I feel like going out and getting a manicure/pedicure. Faithful Homemakers group? That's so cool! What do you do in that group? BTW, YES I will pray for you.
