So as long as you don't look better than the bride. You know, back in the day I heard that those ugly bridesmaid dresses were worn on purpose so that they wouldn't outshine the bride. I don't believe that though cause wedding dresses themselves were often hideous. lol! Either that or we just really liked those styles. You know what I'm talking about...those puffy, ruffly bridesmaid dresses and the over laced, long sleeved and puffy wedding dresses.

my mom's bridesmaids' dresses that she had the girls wear at her wedding were pretty ruffly.... And they were the color of that smiley.

What color are the bridesmaid's dresses?

Ewe. lol

I have just one matron of honor. Her dress will be chocolate brown and her bouquet pink.

Hey everyone! After work, I'm heading down to pay the deposit, see the place again and then at 2 is the grand opening. Banquet tonight too! I have to bring a dessert of some kind. Hmm.

I was going to this conference.... in New york. The only way I could register right now (since it's way past the deadline) is to be a small group leader. So they told me I could be one. They gave me all the material, everything. And everything was all set. Then a couple of days later, they IMed me and told me I couldn't be one since it was my first time at the conference. I was crying. I was so disappointed.... i mean, they told me I could do it. Then they changed their minds. GRRRR....

I understand where they're coming from, but it was a HUGE shock. They've accepted first timers to the conference as small group leaders in the past. And I'd already studied the material and everything. It's just so painful.

Oh, thats a really big bummer Slushie! I hate when someone tells you one thing only to change their mind later on instead!

I know. And this was really important to me. I couldn't wait to see the conference through "their" eyes.... to see how it would touch them. Sometimes that's just as good as being touched for yourself.

I'm surry, Slushie! That's quite a disappointment! And you'd been so excited.

I'm still able to attend. But just not as a small group leader. Next year I can be a small group leader. But.... it's just the fact that I was so excited about leading.... and in the past they've done that - letting first timers lead without a problem. Plus they did say they wished they had more female small group leaders.

Hmmmm, well I would just go then and hopefully next year they will let you be a leader too.

yeah. At least I can go!

I've gone to several other conferences in the past and I just felt a hunger to experience a conference a wholly different way.

The guy left a message on my youth pastor's phone (because my youth pastor was the one who recommended me) and I wonder how he'll react. I think I'll hear from him soon.

But I think I'll just focus on the experience for now.

Yeah. I'm not mad at them or anything, or resentful. That would ruin whatever God has for me.

Now that is a really good attitude to have Slushie! You are very mature for your age!

haha. That's encouraging. But you should have seen me earlier.... i was sitting in front of the computer crying and my dad was yelling at me to do stuff...

I just don't want my attitude to be what's getting in the way.

Yeah, I hear you Slushie. It is best just to brush it under your feet and have a good time instead.

Oh, well that's different. You can go...just not on your terms. Moses waited 40 years to be a leader...remember? Joseph was in prison for many years. Maybe the Lord's still preparing you to lead. The situation is humbling, I agree. But trust God's wisdom and timing. And enjoy the conference!
