Ok! We need details about your trip!

OK, this is for all those inquiring minds that want to know.

I get up at 4 am to drive the hour to the airport and make it for the 6:10 flight. I make it to the airport on time, but the long-term parking is way out in the far reaches of the airport. I have to ride a buss to the terminal. The first buss leaves before I get to the pickup spot. !0 minutes later the next one if full as it passes me. I start to worry a little, because I was cutting it to close, but the third buss comes a couple of minutes later and I get on it.

However, as I am going thru security I here the last call for my flight. I quickly get my shoes and belt on, although not thru all the loops and I make it on the plane. The flight is uneventful.

To back track a little, on Thursday night, Pam and I are talking on the phone. She tells me that her mother says to remind me about the infestation of love bugs that happen twice a year in the south. They are everywhere this time of year. As the plane pulls up to the ramp in Jackson, I look out the window and I see two bugs mating on the glass, and many more flying just outside the window.

Pam picks me up at the airport. Although we have been talking on the phone for months, we both are a little nervous and there is some awkwardness at first. As we are driving the 100 miles from Jackson to her place, we decide to stop for lunch. We are trying to choose a place when I see a sign that says "Smoky Mountain BBQ". We decide to stop and it was a good decision. The food was excellent and we spend about an hour and a half sitting and talking. The nervousness goes away.

(To be continued)

After we finished eating we continue on toward her place. Pam and her family, (parents, brother and his family) live on an acreage out in the country. Pam's place is in the back near the woods. We get to her place and she takes me in and shows me around. Wo end up on the back porch that is next to the woods. We sit and spend about three hours together.

As it begins to get dark we go over to her parents house and I meet them. We spend the rest of the evening talking with her parents. They are a delightful couple and they tell me several good stories about Pam.

Saturday I spend with her and her preparations for the concert that night. For those of you that don't know Pam is a Southern Gospel singer/promoter/producer. We decided for me to come down this weekend so I could see her in concert. She was also producing the concert for the county fair. The whole day was a busy day with concert preparations. Unfortunately, a heavy rain started in the afternoon and continued throughout the evening and the crowd was small, but the performers gave it their all to the ones that were there.

After the concert was over, we went with several of the groups for a midnight breakfast.

Sunday was spent with the family. In the afternoon the whole family gathered at her parents house. While her brother grilled the pork chops, Pam, her SIL and I watched her 2 year old nephew swat all the love bugs he could. The bugs drove us indoors to eat.

After the meal was over we teamed up for games. We played Trivial Pursuit and Squabble. The men were teamed against the women, this is a family tradition. Later in the evening we watched the Orioles play the Yankees.

Monday as she drove me back to the airport she showed me around Hattiesburg.

And we did have a lot of "together time" throughout the weekend.

I am going back down sometime in November.

It is a photo of lovebugs that BeckeyZ sent me.

Is that photo from somewhere in Australia?

I took that picture on my trip out to Kansas City last spring. He was on the Plaza next the the JC Nichols fountain. I liked him much better.

What did you want to know about it, Kerr?

What is it called? What is it made of? Is it a heart on it's side? Is it a giant valentine candy?

Things like that.

Here is a bigger view of it. Its a statue of a little guy who has captured a heart and taking it for his own. I don't know what its made of. I wasn't close enough to tell. It was during Easter so it may have well been left over from Valentine's day.
