so does anyone think they are really more "mature" to any great degree that's worth a lot. or have we just painfully learned to keep our hands away from most of the flames of life and understand that as maturity. hehe Frankly our lives are so short these days , less than 100 expectancey, I don't think we have TIME to really mature. I mean when did Adam reach "maturity"? Maybe at about 550? If it weren't for being able to laugh, I think I'd just fall asleep under a tree like (who was that?) and never wake up. Good question. How does one measure maturity? Some of those "spiritual giants" I mentioned have not changed in 20 years, but they think they are mature. IMO they live a facade. Have permanently affixed happy face stickers to their faces and thats how they live. As for myself I used to go kicking and screaming into the wilderness. But it is there that I found relationship with the Lord. I discovered His true nature. I learned to rest there. Not that I go looking for the wilderness, but I don't strive to get out on my own strength anymore. I've come to realize that its that experience that changes me, not the end result.

I think maturity in faith is identifying the falsity behind others when it exists and the lies behind their words for what it is: the lies of the enemy, betrayal but like Mabel it is also the willingness to stay in the wilderness seeking what God has for me there instead of crying to be gotten out and free of the pain. There has been times when the presence of the Holy Spirit has been so overwhelming I think I must leave in order to survive, but to stand and remain brings the fullness of His blessing. We live in a fallen world and we, as believers, do not escape the hurt and pain though our God is big enough to do so if He were to will it, but to stand in the pain and still continue to seek our God in it will reveal more of His person than we could have ever known otherwise. Once in a particularly difficult time, believing friends kept directing me elsewhere to another field of battle or supply where it would be easier when what I needed was friends to hold up my arms (like Moses) and remain on the battlefield where God sent me, until He brought the victory. We want things to be easy and soft and pleasant, unfortunately my life has not been so. Sorry knee kickers are cleaning the bath on their own..... Maybe I should go check.......

No no no no Martin, Just giving you an age range to consider. In about 30" they'll be in a bubble together having a swim party, complete with suits and toys. Then I'll have to clean the bath all by myself. Actually my youngest are 3and 6, at this point.

Answering "roll call" - I'm 40+ and a church worker. I'm not sure if I'd be identified as one who studies God, but I'm sure He studies me! Thank you, Jesus!

Pink curlers, yes, and bobbie pin spit curls and quite afew things that belong in the womens only folder that we can tell our frustrated daughters "be glad you don't have....". How about nylon stocking with the seam to straighten up the back? Can't say I remember the wartime, no silk stocking era though. How about the heavy knit Trapp family stockings and dresses only for girls in school? Real devotions and the transition when many teachers subtly rebelled against the new law.

I've got eight more years to go before I can say I remember 50. BUt, I do remember many of those who have posted from the old CW cite and have missed seeing you in the new cite. Perhaps I have not been in the right places.

RE: my handle, Thank you. See John 15. I remember all of those things you all have mentioned as well. Reminds me of the Statler Brothers song, "Do You Remember These?" Remember leaving your doors unlocked? Keys in the car? Screen doors? Front porches? Quilting Bees? Barn Raisings? Ice Cream Suppers? Telephone Party Lines? Or how about sermons that convicted of sin, not cultural pop psychology? Or... Preachers who pointed to Jesus, and not PowerPoint?

ORIGINAL: Doveflight I remember wearing hats to church was a must with white gloves and little pearly buttons at the cuff. Also shining my paton leathers with Johnson's floor wax every saturday night. I'm old enough to remember, especially the black and white TV and Sundays' Davie and Goliath, but too young in faith wisdom to keep pace with the sages on this board. Where were you when they walked on the moon and President Kennedy was shot? I remember distinctly my grandmother sitting to watch these events, I'm not sure if it was the somberness, wonder or just the awe of seeing her sitting for a change. Martin, are you being attacked too much or feeling lonely. In need of brownies, whoops that's Fritz, or a cup of Starbucks? Don't have them here but I'll take a Chai. Chai? yummmm.....I had my first chai latte this week.....oh myyyyyyy... Anyway....I remember my entire family in front of the TV when they landed on the moon. My aunt said "You are watching history in the making..." I had no idea what she was talking about then....just believed her. I remember watching the Kennedy thing as well....

ORIGINAL: weeble Doveflight, I remember shinning my shoes on Sat. night too. I also remember having my hair rolled on pink foam rollers on Sat. night. I remember being in school (2nd grade) when our teacher told us that the president had been shot. When man first walked on the moon, I remember looking out my bedroom window at the moon for a long time just thinking about how there was life up there on that night. I wasn't the only one having to deal with those dumb pink rollers....ugggg... made your head hurt...

I only remember when gas was .27 cents a gallon and a cheeseburger was about .29 cents. Yeah, I remember when cheese burgers were about a quarter. but no one remembers popsicles being ten cents, huh. Didn't anyone like popsicles when they were young. LOL--I remember ten cent popsicles. And dreamsicles. And nickel cherry phosphates at the drug store. And the real golden arches. It was a HUGE treat to go there. Oh my, you ARE old!!! hehe
