ORIGINAL: Free_to_Fly I have never listened to Joyce Meyer. Thank you for sharing about her messages. False gospel is no Gospel at all. I appreciate it, Free to Fly quote:
It's comments like this that makes this all worthwhile. Even if the eyes of one person are opened to these false teachers because of this forum, then PRAISE GOD! Soxfan, I wanted to let you know that it was this forum that ultimately opened the eyes of my hubby and I to the false teachings of WOF. We left our WOF church a year ago. Just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work. You are making a difference. Wow! That is awesome. All praise and glory goes to God - He wrote the truth and put it in our hearts. All we have to do is prayerfully study His word and the truth will be seen.

Amen, Shane. It's sad that a lot of unsuspecting and sincere Christians fall for the trappings that is Word of Faith. New Age/Pantheism wrapped up in Christian cloth for consumption.

Word of faith is one of hte most dangerous teacings I have encountered. For about 4-5 years I went to a church like that - just claiming things left right center. Meyer was one of that church's favourite people. I didn't see it then but thank God I realised how wrong it was. I now go to a BIble teaching fellowship and have a much stronger faith as a result.

Hi jimj: First off... WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!! Thanks so much for your testimony. I truly thank God that He opened your eyes to that deception and brought you out. It really is an incredibly dangerous teaching but spreading like wild fire all over the world. Your voice and experience can warn so many away from the WOF heresy... so spread the message boldly!

i joined in this conversation a long while ago in support of joyce..i just wanted to update that i paid attention to things people were saying here and prayed about it and researched around the net more..i can to my own conclusion that some time ago joyce was ok. but now i see her on tv and i feel mad. wof for sure, such a shame. the more i prayed the more i saw. I stopped using the bible with her notes (which added to my annoyance as it cost a fortune.) I wish her well and pray for those she teaches. I just wanted to say that i listened to the arguments and changed my opinions.

To those who are open to hear the error in someone's teaching, God is faithful to reveal the Truth. It is also a blessing to hear that you are praying for those who remain deceived...don't forget to pray for Joyce too. My prayer for her is that she would recognize how off her teaching is and repent. Thanks for sharing. Keep the Word of God close to your heart and you'll never go wrong again.

This is so wonderful. I can only comment that once "more" truth is revealed, that will unpeel more falsehoods and "more" truth will be revealed. You're in for a great and blessed ride now. God's way.

Offer scripture to support her teaching? Umm, the Bible? I read her books, idk what she teaches as in "saving doctrine" but what I read from her is about becoming closer to God, dedication, purity, loving, breaking ties to sin, etc...I don't believe that is going against any scripture!

Kurt, Have you read this thread and the documentation presented as to why Joyce's teachings are heretical? You do know she is classic Word of Faith, correct? And that Word of Faith teachings are New Age Gnosticism repackaged for Christian consumption. right? That she preaches a Jesus that did not atone for our sins on the cross, right?

I read her books, idk what she teaches as in "saving doctrine" but what I read from her is about becoming closer to God, dedication, purity, loving, breaking ties to sin, etc...I don't believe that is going against any scripture! Not sure if you took the time to read through this thread, but I will list a few of Ms Meyers FALSE teachings: 1. From Joyce Meyer's booklet The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make, an evangelistic work aimed at nonbelievers, she resounds the Word-Faith view of Christ’s atonement: "During that time He entered hell, where you and I deserved to go (legally) because of our sin. He paid the price there ... no plan was too extreme ... Jesus paid on the cross and in hell” (pg. 35, underlining in the original). “God rose up from His throne and said to demon powers tormenting the sinless Son of God, ‘Let Him go.’ Then the resurrection power of Almighty God went through hell and filled Jesus ... He was resurrected from the dead — the first born-again man” (pg. 36, underlining in the original). “His spirit went to hell because that is where we deserved to go. Remember in the very beginning of this, I said, ‘When you die, only your body dies. The rest of you, your soul and spirit, goes either to heaven or hell’” (ibid.). “There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am presenting. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell” (ibid.). “Jesus went to hell for you” (pg. 38, underlining in the original). Meyer teaches the classic “Born-Again Jesus” gospel that has been taught by Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Fred Price, John Jacobs, Charles Capps, Benny Hinn and Jan Crouch, to name a few. It’s usually presented under the guise of “revelation knowledge,” given by the Holy Spirit and grounded in Scripture. However, this gospel does not stand up under biblical scrutiny _______________________________________________________________________________ More false WoF theology from Ms Meyer: - You know, I was listening to a set of tapes by one man and he explained it like this, and I think this kind of gets the point across, he said, ‘Why do people have such a fit about God calling His creation, His man—not His whole creation, but His man—little gods? If He’s God, what’s He going to call them but the god-kind?’ I mean, if you as a human being have a baby, you call it a human kind. If cattle has another cattle, they call it cattle-kind. So, I mean, what’s God supposed to call us? Doesn’t the Bible say we’re created in his image? " (Joyce Meyer, "Authority and Opposition," Tape 1236. Article - "Our words are containers of power. The power of life and death is in the tongue." (Joyce Meyer, "What Does Your Future Hold?" TBN, May 24, 2004) -"We can kill the plan of God for our lives with a negative confession." (Joyce Meyer, "Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes," tape 2 of 4 the "Mouth") "I want to say it again, be sure you're not killing God's good plan for your life by letting negative words come out of our mouth all of the time. I believe that wrong words affect our health. I would go so far as to say that there are people here today that you may be sick in your body simply because of speaking wrong words, negative words." (Joyce Meyer, "Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes," tape 2 of 4 the "Mouth") "Say this with me, 'I will not kill God's good plan for my life by speaking negative words." (Joyce Meyer, "Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes," tape 2 of 4 the "Mouth") "I want us to think again for a minute in closing about this thing about making sure that we're not killing God's plan with negative words." (Joyce Meyer, "Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes," tape 2 of 4 the "Mouth") "If I speak death I'll eat death. If I speak life I'll eat life...I want you to say with me, 'I can destroy my life with my own words." (Joyce Meyer, "Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes," tape 2 of 4 the "Mouth") "I believe that words are containers for power and they either carry negative or positive power. They carry creative or destructive power. So, if I'm speaking right things I'm going to have right results. And if I'm speaking wrong things I'm going to have wrong results. And we do pay for our words. If, if I can say it like this, we eat our own words." (Joyce Meyer, "Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes," tape 2 of 4 the "Mouth") "When Jesus was experiencing the most intense pressure of His life, He decided that it would be wise not to open His mouth. Why? I believe it was because He realized that in His humanity, He would have been tempted to do the same thing you and I are tempted to do—doubt, question God, complain, or say something negative." (Joyce Meyer, Enjoying Everyday Life Magazine, "Crossing Over to the Other Side" May 2004) "Our Words Are Containers of Power: "Words are very important, and we will be held responsible for them. Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are in the power of the tongue…What we say has the power to impact our lives and the lives of others in a negative or a positive way. That’s why we need to learn to think about what we’re going to say before we say it." (Joyce Meyer, Enjoying Everyday Life Magazine, "Think before You Speak" May 2004) "Did you know that you can change the very course of your life by the type of words you speak?" (Joyce Meyer, Enjoying Everyday Life Magazine, "Think before You Speak" May 2004) "My teaching this weekend as usual is not going to be doctrinally religious. It's going to be something that you can use in your everyday life." (Joyce Meyer, "Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes," tape 1 of 4 the "Mind") "But you cannot throw out positive confession, and you cannot throw out all the faith teachers, and you cannot throw out positive thinking. And you cannot get rid of those kinds of things because they're in the Bible from one end of it to the other." (Joyce Meyer, PFO Quarterly Journal, April-June 2002, pg. 6. "The faith movement is right. You can't throw the faith movement out the window." (Joyce Meyer, PFO Quarterly Journal, April-June 2002, pg. 14.) "We need to have faith filled words going out of our mouth." (Joyce Meyer, PFO Quarterly Journal, April-June 2002, pg. 14. Satan and Demons-Origin and Fall, side 2) Note: This is absurd to think that our words can kill a plan of an Almighty and Sovereign God. Think about it is this not the height of arrogance to think that our words can kill what God wants to do? ____________________________________________________________________________________ Some of Ms Meyer's false Prosperity teaching: "You know that if you send these offerings into the ministry your gonna help us to keep reaching out to hurting people all over the world. What you make happen for somebody else God will make happen for you. Sow a seed and God will meet your need." (Joyce Meyer, "Enjoying Everyday Life," June 24, 2004) "Poverty is probably one of the most unique spirits to watch. You can watch a spirit of poverty take over an entire neighborhood...And almost always with a poverty spirit, comes a spirit that just stinks. I mean, a poverty spirit just plain stinks. When I get people at the altar that got a poverty spirit on them they almost always have bad breath and body odor." (Joyce Meyer, PFO Quarterly Journal, April-June 2002, page 6) "You got a storage bin, a storage locker in heaven that has alot of stuff in it that needs to be claimed." (Joyce Meyer, "What Does Your Future Hold" May 21, 2004) "We need to claim as much of that inheritance as we possibly can...One of the things you can do right now is speak positive things about your future right now." (Joyce Meyer, "What Does Your Future Hold" May 21, 2004) I believe stingy people are very unhappy people. I want you to give your best offering. I believe one person could write one check to cover all of the expenses of this one conference." (Article on Joyce Meyer, 11/17/2003, St. Louis Post Dispatch) "God does not need our money. The giving thing is not for Him, it's for us," Meyer told a Detroit audience in September. "I should not have to work to try to support myself." (Article on Joyce Meyer, 11/17/2003, St. Louis Post Dispatch) "Make your checks payable to Joyce Meyer Ministries/Life in the Word. And million is spelled M-I-L-L-I-O-N." (Article on Joyce Meyer, 11/17/2003, St. Louis Post Dispatch) "I didn't have that thing for five minutes and I said, 'OK, God. Next I'll take $5 million,'" (Article on Joyce Meyer, 11/17/2003, St. Louis Post Dispatch) In St. Louis last month, Meyer asked for a $7 million check. "That would really bless me," she said." (Article on Joyce Meyer, 11/17/2003, St. Louis Post Dispatch) "Some of you need to sow a special seed this weekend," Meyer told her Detroit audience. "Don't be a $10 man all your life. Don't even be a $100 man all your life. . . . You have to give sometimes until it hurts. It needs to cost you something." (Article on Joyce Meyer, 11/17/2003, St. Louis Post Dispatch) "People say, 'I don't want to hear about the money, the money, the money, the money. I came to hear Joyce. I didn't come to hear about the money,'" Meyer said. "Giving will change your life. When God gives you an increase, you give more." (Article on Joyce Meyer, 11/17/2003, St. Louis Post Dispatch)

haha, never said I believed what she tought as "saving doctrine" the books I read are about coming up higher, breaking ties to sin and the like. From what was quoted from her it seems like she does teach false "saving doctrine" Some of what she was saying is right though. About power being in the tongue...

ORIGINAL: kurtdirt1 Some of what she was saying is right though. About power being in the tongue... Sadly, no. Not even that that she gets correct - look at the plethora of quotes that Soxfan shared for you to study above. Joyce is classic Word of Faith (i.e. heresy) and believes that faith is a force, words are the containers of the force, and you can speak realities/create realities with your words. While it is true that we can edify someone or blast/hurt someone with our words - we do not delve into fake magical realms in which God is some cosmic bellhop that has to hop, skip. and jump because we "spoke" something. I recommend you do some further studying into the Word of Faith movement, its origins, and why it is not biblical. God bless.

Wow, this forum is all about attacking people...idk if I'm going to stick around here much longer...Doesn't seem very Godly to me. [Edited by Admin for off-topic comment. Keep it to Joyce Myer or stay off the thread.] I LOVE Joyce. She's such a blessing to the church and has caused so many people to have awesome breakthroughs and healings in their lives. God bless her and keep her. The Word of Faith people have a lot of great teachings that will benefit, but like everything, you need to take the good and throw out the bad. No one is perfect in their doctrine. Faith is a force more or less - it's the 'substance' of things hoped for. And there is the power of life and death in our words. Through Christ we have the power to pray things into existence that are not - like my children becoming saved and their lives turning completely around. I pray what I DON'T see until I see it. WOF has some pretty good understanding of faith that shouldn't be discarded. The bible is very clear on God's will in so many areas and the WOF people pretty much believe that you pray only those things that are already spoken of in scripture as being God's will. It often takes faith to grab hold of His promises, or we just won't see them happen in our lives. God LOVES people with the kind of faith that grabs holds of His promises and won't let go - like the woman pestering the unrighteous judge. God Bless,

ORIGINAL: kurtdirt1 haha, never said I believed what she tought as "saving doctrine" the books I read are about coming up higher, breaking ties to sin and the like. From what was quoted from her it seems like she does teach false "saving doctrine" Some of what she was saying is right though. About power being in the tongue... you've got to be real careful about their quotes. I heard them quote benny hinn for something that he recanted 17 years ago, but they never let you know that part. They said this is what he believes, etc., but forgot to leave out the part that he hasn't believed it for 17 years, and when he did make that statement it was very brief. God got a hold of him immediately and showed him differently. Things get very, very twisted on these threads. Especially coming from the people who want to destroy people's reputations.
