ORIGINAL: vagrant Quipper, where are you a missionary at? Or where are you going if you aren't there yet? We're heading to Ecuador soon, God willing, to work with HCJB World Radio. We're (hopefully!) finishing our pre-field ministry / deputation--i.e., finding monthly financial partners (churches and individuals). It's not too much to say that it is harder for missionaries to get out the door now than at any time in the past hundred years. It's a challenging process. 80% or more of a missionary's support now comes from individuals. That lengthens the pre-field ministry timeframe, then, b/c one starts out personally knowing just so many potential supporters--i.e., acquaintences, friends, and family. It takes a lot of time to meet new people well enough so that they come to really believe in one's impending ministry. We're about 1.5 years into this process, and 33% of our pledges are now in. It's hard being in 'limbo.' Although Ecuador is the country to which God has sent us, we still need to make ends meet here in the U.S.A. (without access to our mission account) until we can get there. Still, we know that at just the right time God will get us there. That was a long answer to a short question, but I've got all this on my mind and it spills out easily! [sm=icon_smile.gif]
