For the moment they seem to be under control. I haven't seen a live one since we treated the cats and the carpet.

Any suggestions for lunch? I'm thinking the leftover Indian in the fridge is looking might good, especially if I add a tossed salad.

We're out of bread and our pastor's wife has insisted we come over and pick up bread from the church freezer as they have way too much and a weekly delivery of free bread from a local bakery, but dh won't be able to get over there until this afternoon.

So, how's the weather down your way?

Iit's a beautiful clear, blue sky here. And for the first time in a fortnight I'm actually caught up on the washing.

Last night I watched 'Last Dance' with Sharon Stone and Rob Morrow. What a sad story!

It certainly makes you think more deeply about what those kids over in Bali and Chapelle Corby must be going through. And their families! What a way to learn the truth of the saying - There's no such thing as a free lunch!

ugh, so much for "professional".

do you have a product like Frontline? It is a flea and tick product that you put on the skin of the animal, between the shoulder blades. It can't go on the hair, it has to touch the skin. I know it does a good job of killing ticks.

Yes, we have Frontline here although the product I used this time is called Advocate because, although it doesn't treat for ticks, it does cover worms and fleas and both McGuiness and Holeproof hate worm tablets.

I have a scar on my finger to prove it and the dark spot under my fingernail still hasn't grown out.

Besides, being indoor cats they're pretty unlikely to come into contact with ticks. And Advocate is an Australian product.

Kylie, the weather here has been beautiful since Easter. Clear skies with whispy clouds and the temps are so mild...we actually have the doona pulled up at night!! So nice for sleeping I love autumn

I haven't seen Last Dance, but yes the situation for Schappelle is awful! It really seems like the authorities are determined to find her guilty even though there appears to be no evidence. What a terrifying situation for her and her family. And even though it seems the 9 young people did do the wrong thing it is awful to think of them in the Bali jail, or worse, facing the death penalty. However, I do think they showed very poor judgement in getting themselves mixed up in the whole thing. It is not as if we know nothing of what the Indonesians are likely to do to people found smuggling drugs.

I guess you would be getting a fair bit of media coverage about Schapelle up there seeing as how she comes from the Gold Coast. I do hope the authorities see the truth in this and that Schappelle is released soon.

Darcy, there is a young Australian girl, Schappelle Corby, who has been arrested in Bali with smuggling drugs into Bali from Australia [as if anyone would - like taking coals to Newcastle!!]. When she entered Bali in October last year they found 4.1 kg's of marijuana in her body board bag. It appears it may have been planted in her luggage here in Sydney, by baggage handlers, who thought it [the body board] was being offloaded in Brisbane [or vice versa - maybe Brisbane to Sydney?]. Anyway it is a huge mixup, and the Indonesians don't have a lot of evidence but they are making a case against her and it is possible she will be given a life sentence or even death by firing squad, if the court finds her guilty. She really needs a lot of prayer at the moment.

There is also another case where 9 young people were found with drugs strapped to their body as they left Bali for Australia. They too are being held and will probably face the full brunt of Indonesia'a severe drug penalties. It seems these young people were somehow forced into running the drugs and there is a big police investigation happening here in Australia to find the 'leader'.

It has highlighted the severity of the Indonesian system in dealing with drugs. Both cases are very tragic for lots of reasons. I just pray that truth and justice will win.

Yes I agree those young people were idiots, just don't agree that they need to be shot because of it.

From my understanding of the case they were given tickets to go over to Bali (and were too naive to ask why someone would be giving them a free ride) and once over there they were threatened that if they didn't carry the drugs that they and their families would be killed.

Some of the families didn't even know that their young adult children had gone overseas. One young man had told his parents that he was going to Cairns.

Interesting too as there has been quite a bit of focus in the media lately about parents taking responsibility for their kids' poor decisions.

I don't know if we're hearing more about the Schappelle Corby case here Julie, but it is on the news almost every night.

Hey Pammy! How are you?

We're doing great! Although this assignment of J's is killing me.

The whole Bali thing is rather sad. The treatment that the Australians are receiving, (or in this case, not receiving), is appalling. I don't know how people can allow others to go through that kind of behaviour.

oh that poor girl! :(

I watched rabbit proof fence a while back. It was a very interesting movie. I remember you saying something about it. What I don't understand is why they were moving the girls in the first place?

Kath, Rabbit Proof Fence is basically about the White Australia Policy which was in force during those times.

Any child who had 'white' blood was removed from their parent/s and brought up in a mission so that they could be introduced to "Christian" values with the eventual goal of integrating Aboriginal Australians into 'white' society; with the goal of completely eradicating Aboriginal culture in the process.

To take a term from that era which says everything about the attitudes of the time - they were trying to 'breed the black out of them'.

Ohhhhhhh, my dear Lord......to be SHOT for having drugs in your stuff?

It's a good thing that isn't policy elsewhere......there'd be a whole lot of dead people around here, that's for sure.

Will pray for the girl, and that justice will REALLY be done. Whoever may have planted the stuff in her gear should own up to it......HE'S probably not in Bali, and I doubt that he'd be extradited there. How could you LIVE with knowing that something you did got someone EXECUTED?

Both situations are just so messed up that it's hard to believe. I can't imagine what it must be like for those involved and their families.

I'm not sure of exact ages of the whole nine, but from what I've seen on the news they appear to mostly be young adults, some not even twenty yet.

I've got the worst headcold today and I kept J home from school because he's so sick. For the first time in I can't remember how long I had J sleep in our room last night so I could monitor him. He had a shocking cough and just wasn't breathing as freely as I thought he should have been.

Dh slept in the loungeroom so he could get some rest but said that even down the other end of the house J was coughing that hard that he (dh) had trouble sleeping. And then X, all excited to find Daddy in the loungeroom, woke him at 6am when she got up.

It was a bit of a shame for J having to stay home today as it was the school sports carnival.

X came home with a second place ribbon and apparently her team came first in one ballgame, third in another and second (I think ) in the relay.

Thank you. I missed the first 15 minutes of the movie, so I didn't see the reasoning behind it. It was just tragic. :(

Congrats to X for winning a ribbon. Good job!

I hope you and J are feeling much better. I know it's not much fun when you're sick. I hope you can both take it easy and get well really quickly.

Hey everyone! Mostly all better here today, although I still kept J home today.

Mind you, he wasn't so sick he couldn't get bored and into mischief. We had a very long talk about the cat not needing a haircut (trimmed his ear hair and whiskers because J thought they were getting too long ) and J got to clean toilet blue off the wall of the toilet.

I guess curiosity got the better of him with that one, wondering what the stuff in the cistern was because the lever which flushes the toilet is broken and so for the last week we've had to lift the cistern lid to flush the toilet.

Well, it's Sunday again!

I've got a sore knee because 'OUCH!!!!' I dropped a large piece of plywood on it while dh and I were cutting out the desktops for our office.

We thought it would be a good idea to do them this weekend, having had the landlord and builder around looking at the garage earlier in the week we figure we may only have this weekend to use the garage for building furniture before we're stuck out in the much smaller shed.

This afternoon one of my closest friends from highschool and her parents are coming around for afternoon tea. They should be here in about ten minutes.
