We had a good time catching up. I'm trying to think of the last time I had a good catch up with her parents. I've seen one or both of them for five minutes here and there over the years, but never for long enough to actually catch up on what's happening in their lives.

Considering that their home was my refuge as a young Christian growing up in a non-Christian household, it's pretty awful not to have kept up with them, but we've moved and theyve moved and we just haven't crossed paths that often.

Dh is finished building J's desk and almost finished the ones for our office, but we will have to wait until tomorrow to paint them. I just hope he can finish them in the next fiftenn minutes. Otherwise he's going to have to wait until tomorrow as it will be past the time for making that much noise.

Kylie

Well, my knee didn't get nearly as bad as I expected, just a nasty bruise, so that's good.

I've just painted the first coat on J's desk and am waiting for it to dry so I can put on the first layer of estapol. We're doing a limewash finish like we did on his bed. That means we slop the paint on and then wipe most of it off with a damp sponge before putting two layers of lacquer on top.

Our next project for J's room is his set of drawers, but first we're getting the desks finished for our office.

We're doing the same paint effect in the office, but with black paint rather than blue (about this colour ). We also plan to make a bookcase and two 2-drawer filing cabinets with the same finish.

Dh was supposed to work this morning, but it was outside work and it was raining. So he rang the woman he was going to be working for to let her know but she wasn't answering her phone so he left a message. She just rang (two hours later) and abused him because he didn't turn up and he should have known (because she told the other tech. who walked off the job - beginning to not wonder why with this one) that her mobile doesn't work at home.

Well, it seems that the job wasn't meant to get finished today.

Dh was drilling up through her floor when his drill caught on a nail. The drillbit caught and the drill spun around in his hand catching him across the face. He now has two stitches in his upper lip.

Dh is hoping he can finish the job tomorrow.

We did manage to get J's desk finished and into his bedroom.

Yes, and when he came home I had to argue with him to get him to let me take him to the doctor. He swore it would heal on it's own.

Gotta love him!

Didn't bother trying to talk sense, just called the Medical Centre and told the kids to hop in the car.

Oh, and dh is so pleased! Tomorrow he has to have an ID photo taken for one of the companies he sub-contracts to.

good for you! Larry was the same way when he had a headon collision on the way to work. some girl saw a dog on the highway and swerved to miss it but hit him. They towed the van home, and he planned on going on to work. His abdomen was swollen, he was acting weird, but whooo boy, he was determined to go to work. I told him no way, and reminded him of all the courtroom shows on now, that the first thing the judge asks is why they didn't go to the hospital and I was not going to jeopardize any future issues that came up, just because he was being stubborn. bah.

so we went to the hospital.

Kath, dh never takes good ID shots. They always end up looking like mug shots so I guess this one won't be any worse than usual.

I'm waiting to have the lawns mowed this morning but I've just discovered that I can't find the keys to the Magna which is parked on the lawn so they're just going to have to mow around it this month.

No, but I have a strong suspicion that they're on dh's keyring.

The lawn guy is arriving an hour after we organised. He rang me fifteen minutes after he was supposed to be here to let me know.

Hey Darcy and Pammy!

We're doing well, although J, along with some other boys, apparently had some time with the Principal today.

According to him he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time when some of the other boys were giving some girls a hard time. According to his teacher, with no witnesses other than the girls who have been amongst those giving J a really hard time since he arrived at the school, J was involved.

I'd love to believe J, but he's been doing some pretty serious lying lately, but I also know from X that these girls are prone to lying to get others in trouble. What are you supposed to do with that?

I can't punish J when no adults can verify what happened, yet if he is guilty he really needs some serious repurcussions for that kind of behaviour.

Oh Kylie that is a tough one with J. My son had a terrible problem with lying, and I found it so hard to believe him. As he got older I let him know the 'predicament' he put me in by lying. I explained that I wanted to trust and believe him, but each time he got caught out in a lie, it just made it that much harder for me to believe him. I know I probably let him get away with things that he really did do but had let me believe that he didn't.

I don't really know the answer for you. I guess prayer for discernment to see through the lie and maybe even to pray for there to be reliable 'witnesses' in the future. I guess too, if you do punish him, let him know that you have to do it because the 'evidence' points to him being in the wrong and if it turns out he really was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, you can apologise, but use it as a lesson of where lying gets you. And maybe also a lesson in 'hanging out with the wrong crowd'? I don't think there is an easy answer to it though.

((((((HUGS)))))))

Yeah, have to agree with Julie on this one......you're between a rock and a hard place in this situation.

Will pray, Kylie.

Thanks guys!

Why is it that children can make you feel like you're such a bad parent???!!!!

Ladies Bible Study is on today, but I've got no idea if I have a lift or not. I usually organise it on Sunday and both myself and the lady who's been picking me up forgot on Sunday so I'm waiting until 9am to ring her.

Not exactly. No-one else was going to be turning up so my pastor's wife came to visit here and we had morning tea together.

J is so excited this afternoon. They did an across the year Maths test which he got 90% in so he will be going up a group in Maths.

Dh and I installed an alarm together today and the children there (two toddlers) were so well behaved (helps to have a nanny). The Dad, on the other hand, I asked not to walk under the ladder while I was working on it and the next thing he did was walk under it again, just as I dropped the cable stripper from the top rung. It missed him by cms. I would have thought not walking under a ladder someone is working on would be basic common sense.
