Quick update on my issues with the Christmas with the Kranks banner:

As I normally use Mozilla, I thought to check how I did with IE, since Mr. Fritz pointed out that Crosswalk is designed to work best with this browser. Thus far I have no problems with scrolling, but the animation that is the beginning of the Kranks ad is skipped (which is ok with me to be honest)

If going back to IE solves my disconnect issues, I'll just log on here from IE and kill two birds with one rock!

Back to our regularly scheduled insanity.

Hello Fritz

I am also experiencing problems of slow responses and lock up while on crosswalk, I researched the error and it is related to a script that is running on the web site.

Updating the flash did not fix the problem and I am using a new operating system install Win98 SE without Virus scan and firewall and still receive the script error while in IE

Perhaps if the script is related to the Kranks if it were removed for a day or two perhaps many of us could verify if indeed it is the problem/

Thanks

Stephen

FWIW the Christmas with the Kranks ad doesn't affect my computer at all. I like it much better than the spider/mortgage one -- the flashing there bothered my eyes immensely. But neither one affected my computer function. I use Mozilla Firefox. I have no idea what settings I have on anything, but just got this computer in August, so I imagine it is pretty up-to-date.

Sometimes, if I'm on the board, when a subscription comes through and I click on it I am either GUEST or JimT (hubby!). He's not subscribed to any forums, so says he...... I posted on one girly thread and then saw it was under his account the other day!!! He HAD been online at 5:00 that morning but I'd logged on hours later.

I just checked... because a 'funeral' thread went to his account and he's not sub'd to any forums, etc.

UPDATE
I reinstalled Flash today and it seems a bit better.

New Update: It was only better for an hour or so. Then I tried using IE instead of Firefox, and NOPE, that still didn't fix it. That Kranks ad definitely does not like my computer, and I have updated everything I can think of to update.

Greetings,

I also connected a different computer last night using a new install of XP Pro, when I logged on to crosswalk, the site asked if I would like to download flash, I refused it and have had no errors while in WIN XP but the system did move slower than usual, but today I have not noticed the Krank promo either, while in XP or WIN 98

I was going to remove the flash player in 98 SE to see if the krank promo affected WIN 98SE without the flash player installed, but today Both 98SE and XP are working properly, and I have not noticed the Krank promo as of 11/16/05 12:34 PM

So for now ...all is well on this end

If you don't download flash you can expect to have problems.

Greetings,

Hello Fritz..

I just signed on in WIN98 Today 12:40 PM and the krank promo was running and the same problems re-occurred.

In return I did remove the updated Flash from IE 6 and the system is running properly for now, and the site is moving.

Perhaps we have an oil and vinegar issue between the active x script in the krank promo and the newer version of flash that I removed.
By removing the flash object in IE does not necessarily create problems viewing the crosswalk web site and the option is always available to reinstall it.
I do not believe one can remove those embedded controls in IE itself that are a part of the operating system, but by removing the object in the IE options it denies runtime permissions on all scripts and even ones that may be corrupt.

Its like salvation, when the Holy Spirit moves in, it denies the devil his day. So if the Flash is sinning then it is better to cut it off then spend eternity in freeze up.

It seems the only noticeable affect that I witnessed are that the pages in the promos do produce motion or turning to the next page in the promos, so by removing and denying the reinstallation of the flash object in turn seems to have stopped the issue of disintegration and freeze up.

Basically the krank promo with the active snow seems to be the culprit, it remains in the same page sort of like a freeze frame, yet the other promo for the DVD, with the man upside down, does not tend to cause any problems.

Just relaying info,

LG

Hey folks,

Tech team has updated the forum db to use full text indexing.

This should resolve the issue with My Subscriptions displaying no subbed threads.

When I log in via Christianity.com and go to check my forums it says that I have none and then have to log in again so that my subs can be displayed. This has been happening for a couple of weeks now.

Also, I am still having occasional problems with my subs not showing but it has dramatically decreased though.

Sometimes when logging via Crosswalk.com and reading my forums, it only shows postings from the previous night and nothing current, ie even though it is today it will only show threads updated as 11:37PM, etc. I usually have to log in via Christianity.com to get the most recent postings in my forums.

My inbox is empty and registers as 100% full, so I can't receive any PMs. How can this be remedied?

In the "birthday" box in my profile, it has a box to check to say not to show age, but the year still appears. Is there a way to get it to show just the month and day?

this used to never happen to me, but occasionally i will lose my login status. i'll go from being logged in to clicking on a thread and being logged in as a guest. i then have to log in all over and then there are two of me, sometimes 3, in the active user list.

I don't think so. The macromedia flash player is required for the ads that are on the pages. Each time a new ad tries to show it'll ask you to download macromedia.

I am having poll trouble. I wanted to make a poll in my kitchen thread in PFY folder, but I don't have the ability to edit anymore.

I started a new thread called Llisa big news in community, thinking that it was just a problem with my kitchen thread. I was going to add a poll, but I don't have that option like I used to.

Another thing, I wrote Kathy a PM yesterday and a few other people got the note.

No, I have never used that option (that I can recall) because I often want more than 10 options. I had thought about doing it that way this time, but was nervous that I wouldn't be able to edit the poll like what happened in my kitchen.

I suggest try doing it that way and then let me know if the problem persists.
