Previously, long links in a post would cause a scroll bar to show up at the bottom of the center frame. Now, the test just disappears beyond the right side of the center frame.

For example, there are several posts in this thread where I can't read the end of the line.

-Dan.

What browser are you using?

What is your screen setting?

I had the same problem, but only in the crosswalk site

IE6 SP2
and the screens setting made no difference; it was the same on all settings...at least on this end

I am completely unable to start a thread. The box opens up, and I put my message in, but nothing happens when I hit "OK", and eventually Firefox tells me my connection to this site has been reset.

I would assume it is because of traffic, but I tried it early morning, and it still didn't work.

Ok, Dan, I'll pass this on to our tech guy and see if he can duplicate the issue.

If you could give me a link to the post in question that would be helpful. To get the link just click on the number of the post located in the bottom right hand corner of the post and then copy and paste the URL that appears in the small pop up window.

Upon further investigation, I've determined that this is a PEBKAC error.

Since that last update, I haven't had to deal with horizontal scroll bars in the middle pane, so when I saw text extending past the right side of my screen, I figured the text was just running off past the end of the screen. I didn't look down far enough to see that there actually were scroll bars in that middle pane.

FWIW, I think it's this post that has the oversized link. Is there a way to abbreviate the text shown for links, with some elipses (...) or something? I think I've seen other places do that.

Thanks,
-Dan.

Actually, I had our tech dude add a scroll bar to help you out.

Thanks for the link to the post.... I"m going to leave the post unedited so tech dude can take a look at it and come up with a solution.

Whatever you guys come up with (even leaving things the way they are, which is fine by me), thanks for the effort.

Tech dude says he thinks he's fixed it.

If you do happen to find a post with a long link that messes things up you can report it and a Mod will edit it.

Why are the pages on here taking so long to load lately?? Is anyone else having problems with that? Many times they will nearly load, then just stop and sit there for 45 seconds to a minute before loading the remainder.

I'm using IE7 on Windows XP.

I'm having a lot of trouble off and on too. I use Firefox. Other websites load just fine so I don't think it's my computer.

Yeah, Kath, it's not all the time . . . seems to be in the morning more -- around 6:00 or so. Impossibly slow. Sometimes I just give up & leave the computer, then when I come back later, the page has loaded.

are you ladies in different time zones??? MO vs. NE?? The time zone difference would make those about the same time, and when the eastern time zones would be getting up and active on the board.

I'm not sure about all of MO but I think most of it is in central, same as me. It was a thought though. :)

I haven't exactly figured out each time it does this, but I'm frequently getting, "the site cause IE to experience a problem and windows needs to close."

I've either been on Crosswalk or Faith Community. I thought it might be the portal. It wasn't. Once tonight it happened after I posted. Once it was after I clicked on a profile.

I don't know how to check which Windows version I'm using. This doesn't happen on other websites.

Obviously, it's annoying. It closes all my internet windows, so if I was also listening to something on-line, or I'm doing something else, I lose it all.

Thanks for looking into this, Fritz. You are always so helpful. -- Oh - and I'm sorry I won't be able to respond, I'm going away for a few days. I'll make myself a note to check back here upon my return next week.

The little yellow "go to new post" thingy to the left of the thread titles in "My Forums" isn't working again. Thought I'd let you know.

I had a problem with forums yesterday. It was running slow and I received a timeout error when a page tried to load. I finally gave up and logged out after posting in my blog, which I was able to do before the problems described above occurred. What causes this to happen anyway?
