Darcyjo -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 4:52:23 PM)

Thanks, Laura....I was starting to wonder if I was losing my eyesight....or my mind!

And it's funny, I haven't seen a yellow page either.....on threads I KNOW have new posts!

Oh, well........

Just to be sure: Are you looking right in front of the thread title in the list of topics?

BenQuebec -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 5:17:25 PM)

I know we've been having issues with the yellow notepad with the green arrow that is supposed to take you to the new threads, but something different just happened to me. I clicked on my yellow notepad for the Q & A thread in this folder, and it took me BEYOND where I'd left off (I'd signed off at 12:45pm-ish), and I had to go back 2 pages to find where I'd left off. I'd left off on page 4, and it took me to page 6 of 6.

Does it automatically take you to the most recent page? Just curious...

Darcyjo -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 5:17:34 PM)

Yep, sure am.

Went back and looked SEVERAL times.......the only green arrow is on the right hand side, where you would click to get to the last post in a thread.

And I know what the page icons on the left are, since there's an explanation of them at the bottom of the page......no yellow pages at all either. Again, on threads that I've posted and read on, and that HAVE new posts since I've been there.

Nice to know I'm not crazy. Or THAT crazy.[8D]

magdaleine -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 5:26:43 PM)

It seems the gold icons refer to new messages only since you last logged off rather than since you last read that thread. So, even if there are new posts in a thread since you've read there, neither will it show as gold at the left, there won't be the green arrow icon either to take you to where you left off. This is VERY inconvenient.

Darcyjo -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 5:30:25 PM)

DANG! [:-]

Now, that makes sense........I hope they change it!

By the way, beautiful avatar, Maggie dear!

Kath -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 5:39:26 PM)

Maggie, that isn't happening to me, I can see the new posts icon whenever I visit the page.

BenQuebec -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 5:42:55 PM)

Maggie, I'm with Kath. When I'm logged on, if I leave for five minutes and go back to the main page, I'll see a yellow pad if someone posted in a discussion I'm involved in. For me, it's a matter of refreshing the page or going back to the main page, as the new forums package doesn't auto-refresh like the other forums.

Anyway, if what you say is true, it's probably the bug they're currently working on. Just hang in there, and it'll work the way it should pretty soon. :-)

So long as you stay logged in, you're right. But say you have to reboot your computer or otherwise completely leave the site (window closed, logged out) and come back. Do the gold icons remain beside those threads which weren't posted in while you were gone? If they do, then I'm wondering they don't for me.

If you log out and reboot, reformat or whatever, you can still log in and still pick up where you left off. Right now, I'm posting from a friend's computer - not my normal computer - and when I logged in, I was able to pick up where I left off in all my marked threads. :-)

magdaleine -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 9:14:05 PM)

It's not happening for me at all. So, what am I doing wrong? And when I asked my son who is very accustomed to this forum platform he said he's never found a way to return to where he's left off reading in threads if he didn't read them during the same logged-in session in which they were posted.

Another bug. I have the option "Hide my age" checked in My Profile. But my birthyear is showing on my member page anyway.

Darcyjo -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 9:15:29 PM)

I HOPE it's a bug.......I haven't gotten a gold icon even ONCE yet......and the green arrow is still somewhat ellusive......[;)]

Not for the rest of us, it isn't...

walterquez -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 9:20:05 PM)

Clicking the right arrow pointing to a note suppose to take me to the first UNREAD message, but instead it takes me to the very last message.

magdaleine -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 9:24:55 PM)

Walter, there are two arrows connected with a thread title in a folder. The one on the extreme right takes you to the last message, as you've discovered. There is also an arrow immediately to the LEFT of the thread title. That's the one that should take you to where you left off.

So why am I having problems no one else is having?

What I meant was that when I click on your profile, I see your month and day, but not your birth year. It's got asterisks. OTHERS can't see your birth year, but YOU can.

Sorry for the confusion!

walterquez -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 9:28:52 PM)

Ahhhh, I didn't see that before. The arrow with the title is the one I was looking for. Thanks magdale.ine

Kath -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 10:09:50 PM)

Would the selections made in the "Subscription Preference" make a difference?

magdaleine -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 10:13:23 PM)

Kath, I have "Notify me once per thread until I visit the thread again" selected.

magdaleine -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 10:18:33 PM)

I just double checked the results, wondering if I was imaging things. I logged out and logged back in and now everything in My Forums is marked as read. [:@]

Kath -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 10:19:11 PM)

How about this one??

quote:

Forum subscription preference
Notify me whenever a message is posted
Notify me only when a new topic is posted

I have no clue if it makes a difference or not, just trying to think of something.

magdaleine -> RE: Bug Report (4/12/2005 10:22:01 PM)

Well, those options are for when one is subscribed to a forum which possibility is currently disabled.

magdaleine -> RE: Bug Report (4/14/2005 12:17:53 PM)

This is connected to something Fritz said was a known bug but it's a variation on the theme. I didn't log out but was idle in CW for about half an hour. I went to refresh my subscriptions and suddenly, all the threads that had new messages in them half an hour before now showed that there were no new messages. And I hadn't logged out either (though that's another bug--I HAVE been logged out against my will when idle for a while).
