"Loose cannon" is kind of a loaded expression, almost explosive name-calling, a powderkeg of a way to start the conversation. Enough puns. My wife likes to take something and run with it, and do it her way. She is strong and independent, and tends to get bored with negotiations and compromises. She doesn't like to plan stuff, but just do it. But I wouldn't call her a "loose cannon" any more than I would call myself a "wet blanket." We both have to moderate our tendencies, and work creatively together. For example, sometimes we say "You take charge of this. I'll take charge of that" to fit my wife's needs. Other times, we meet and discuss issues and work out plans together, to meet my needs. When we are both flexible and play to each others' strengths, it works out well.
