I have been a widow since Feb. 17, 2006 I can't seem to pick my self up. My dad tells me I need to start getting out of the house but I can't seem to bring myself to do that I've always been kinda of a loner and very, very shy, my husband now was a different story he did not know a stranger. Right after my husband went home to be with Jesus my best friend moved back to Indianna. I was hurt by a church a long time ago I love my Lord Jesus I love to sing and play the piano but I can't seem to get back in church and to allow myself to trust again. Please pray for me that I won't be afraid to open my heart an make friends and to trust again. My best friend is my dog dakota he loves to ride in the car and go for walks in the park. I am new at chatting I've have never done this so if I mess up please feel free to let me know.Thank you and God bless everyone.

Hey you,

I am glad you have joined our little chat world here. :) You will make many friends I am sure. I am sorry to hear about your husband!

I think it took me a while to get my picture on here. There is the button to browse the pictures on your pc and upload them. You just have to make sure they are within the size limits. That is what was tricky for me.

Let me know if you need anything. :D

Nice to have you here

Hi Flammingstar...Welcome to the forum.

I am not a widow, but I know many who are. I can't relate to your loss, since I've not been there. But, I know what it is like to lose some extremely close. someone I loved dearly.

I'm so sorry you were hurt by a church long ago. I hope you have forgiven them. Have you thought about visiting another church...or attending a Bible Study? I agree, with your father, that you need to get going. Having your best friend move away, is disappointing, to say the least. God has given you a new chapter in your life. No, it was not one you chose, but just the same you are here because he willed you to be. He is not done with you, yet. You are not useless, by any means.

You mention that you have always been kind of a loner and very, very shy. Do you know this verse (Philippians 4:13)? This verse changed my life, years after I became a Christian. I found out it was true, that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I stepped out from myself, relying on his strength alone. I had to put my insecurities aside, and trust him completely (it was a test of my faith). He opened a door to treasures he had planned for me, and some are of them are dear friends. Yes, it took faith. Faith in the one who saved me. I stepped away from me...I clung to Jesus, in all the faith I could muster to believe what Paul said. Paul was my example...and if he believed he could do all things through Jesus, than I could, too! It's almost like a walk on the water experience, except God is carrying you by his strength. When I say, I can't...I know, I can with Him. Do I ever doubt? Yes. It is my doubting and wanting to retreat from believing Him that keeps me in my comfort zone. But he doesn't give up on me. Because of the Holy Spirt, he whispers "Remember what I did for you? It was by my strength, that you were set free from your fear."

I believe God has a door wide open for you, but he is waiting patiently for you to make a move towards it.

By the way, you have permission to make typos...I do all the time. Chatting on a forum is easy. I don't know how to do the photo thingy. You'll have to wait for someone else to tell you.

Praying for you...that the Lord will inspire you to use the gifts you've been given. Have you thought about givng piano, and voice lessons? Missions and resthomes are always in need of pianists, too. It's a stretch for you, but with Jesus you can do it, right?

Also, I should mention that some churches have "Homegroups or Small groups. If you live near me, in OR...I would invite you to ours.

Praying for you tonight dear one...in Jesus precious name.

I'm sorry for your loss. Making friends can be hard. But a positive thing is your dog - many many people wind up making friends just be walking their dog in a park. The first step is the hardest. But a smile and a friendly hello usually works.

Also, I found that shy people are more comfortable with talking online in a chat room just to get the practice of how to relate. So it might be a good idea to start here in this chat room on the website. Remember "strangers are just friends you have not met yet" :)

This is going to very hard to do, but give your hurts to God. He cares for you and He knows the pain that you are going through. He understands how hurt you feel, because when he was hanging on that cross, he was alone. Even God had to turn his face upon Jesus because he was carrying all that sin upon his shoulders, and since God cannot looking onto sin, he had to turn his face away from Jesus. So Jesus knows what hurt is. He knows what it feels like. And he died on that cross for you. He already paid the price, and He wants to have the hurts that you feel, and he wants to do away with them.

Are you going to totally forget about what had happened with your husband and that church? Absolutely not. But the hurts that you are feeling, stop dwelling in them, give them up to Jesus and he will take care of it. The hurts will finally be gone, the memories will still be there, but the hurts will be gone after a while. Give them to God. He knows you better than you do.

In order to trust people again, you need to trust God and trust that He will help you.
Take care! God loves you and people do too, even if you don't trust them!
