Hi all. Over the past 2 years I have been studying resources that perport to bring believers in contact with the Hebraic roots of the Christian faith. Today, I was listening to a teaching by one such author Daniel Thomas Lancaster, who is doing a series of messages on Matthew 5 through 7 and heard the first message which was about describing a disciple's job description. The key points were learn, memorize, immitate and raise others to be disciples. During the message the observation was made that this approach to living the Christian life made more sense to Lancaster than relying on experiences or emotions or something to have a victorious Christian life. Kind oflike faith minus responsibility. Though I still worship on Sunday, and modestly observe dietary guidelines, I find my life in Jesus is more resemblant of the 4 points mentioned above. So, if we understand torah to be instruction, then I feel more sensitized to look for that in my reading of God's word, and whom I choose to listen too. I am interested to know of others experience along these lines, or in a broader sense, would your life in Jesus be nurtured in different ways than when you started? Do you for example feed yourself or rely on books and pastors to feed you Spiritually, there is a place for both.. Meantime, blessings to you and thanks for reading and responding. A Messianic believer, David

This is a different prospective, not just a different explanation of certain verses. In my opinion, the basis of may study is the Shema(Duet. 6) and convocations at the appointed times. Regarding the Hebrew Roots movement, be careful about "movements" or trying to label what you or others are. Focus on the Scriptures and ideas while you study to show yourself approved. That is my best advise to begin with.

Kind oflike faith minus responsibility. This appears to be a huge red flag! Please clarify, drussell.
