Well......... The Bible is pretty specific about it. It says that it is a shame for a man to have long hair, and that even nature itself tells us that a man shouldn't have long hair. BUT, It also tells us to "Let a man work out his own salvation WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING". I emphasize those last four word only because most people when quoting that scripture, conveniently leave those words out, and it ticks me off. The Bible doesn't say it's a sin to have long hair, Paul just told us that it is a shame and a man shouldn't. I personally do not like it, but it is not my hair. I think Guy Penrod is a very genuine person and has a sincere relationship with the Lord. He sings from more than just his mouth. I believe his heart is right with God and I certainly can't judge him. All I can do is overlook the hair thing and let him take care of that subject himself as he walks with God. If I were his daddy or his wife, I'd give him a nice haircut while he was asleep. But I'm not, so I just figure it's none of my business and rather pointless to discuss someone else's appearance choice. I might feel a little more qualified to consider it as something I should be concerned about, if I were pastoring a Church today and had to decide whether or not to allow a man with long hair like that, to step behind the pulpit. That of course would pose a question I would have to answer through prayer. But I'm not in that position so I think all any of us can say is: Let him work out his own salvation with fear and trembling", and fore-go our own opinions.

Well like the song said "if your hair's on your ears, there's sin in your heart." j/k...hehe I think people take those lines in 1 Corinthians out of context. Paul was restructuring a church that had fallen into mass disarray. From what my little mind can tell, this was simply a disciplinary tactic used by Paul to help the church at Corinth regain some order. Sometimes out-of-the-ordinary disciplinary measures have to be taken in order to accomplish something great. Guy Penrod's hair doesn't bother me. At least he washes it and keeps it nice and clean! On top of that, all reports I've been given tell me he's just an all-around good guy. Those with the stones and scissors in their hand....let him alone.

I think there might also be a little more to it than that, in my personal beliefs. But your ideas on it are valid and certainly give a new perspective that has definitely been overlooked. Thanks for sharing it.

I agree, however,If his long hair is a stumbling block to anyone, then It's his responsibility as a christian to cut It. As far as appearances are concerned,we are not our own.We belong to Jesus Christ. And it's our job as Christians to be Christ like. I do believe the man is for real.I believe he sings from his heart and lives what he sings.

If this is the direction this thread is going, I wish it would be moved to one of those religious debate forums that I refuse to read.

What I think is that this topic has no place on this thread! If it has to be discussed at all, it should be in the doctrine and scriptures threads!

What I DON'T like about this thread is that it calls out one specific person by name. I think it would make a good discussion for a forum as a general subject about long hair. I just think it's very unfair to single someone out for such a discussion. May be best to start a whole new thread and discuss it more in depth, without judgement of a particular individual.
